Is there such a thing?

You mean a software developer?
But I guess there are still things on an electric car that require turning a wrench.

There are several job openings on teslamotors.com
You could get your foot in the door as a product specialist and then become a tech, ostensibly.

I'm sure that if you moved to silicon valley there will be a massive demand for people that know how to work on teslas in the coming years.

There is such a thing.
On the Careers page of their website there's a link to job searches, I did a quick search for all jobs worldwide in the "Service" business unit - there are tons.
If you check the job description for "technician" positions, it sounds not too bad: go pick up customer cars with trailer, fix them, do the PDI for new cars, etc etc. Basic mechanic-level stuff + a bit of customer service.
Hmmm, maybe I should change careers?

Probably not a bad idea.
As electric cars become more popular, I'm sure knowing how to work on them will be a very marketable skill.

There must be a joke about Silicon Valley and electric cars here somewhere....
