So. Checked out that Wagovan today. Not exactly worth spending my money on, though I'm sure someone will enjoy it. I decided to take a look at autotrader, 50 mile radius, under $10k, sedan or wagon. Of those, I've narrowed it down to the following possibles.

2001 325is wagon.... Automatic. 93k miles.

2007 Volvo S60 2.5t. 94k miles.

2003 Infiniti M45. 80k miles.

2000 Lexus LS400. 100k miles.

There were a few other interesting options that I ruled out for one reason or another. I'd prefer not to sell the MR2, so I'm looking for cars I don't need to make payments on. Something interesting. Doesn't even have to be super fun. Just interesting, and more useful than the 2. I haven't driven any of them yet, but I'm starting tomorrow. Thoughts, Oppo? Tell me what you think and I'll tell you which one I think is my #1 at this point.
Sorry about the formatting. Multiple photos on mobile.

I like the Lexus.

LS400! Just posted about it, funnily enough.

Second vote for the Lexus. Interesting. It's the right color and stuff, though it is the oldest one on the list.

I kinda do, too. Out of the thousand listings, it was down to these four to check out in person.

Without having seen any of them yet, the M45 is probably the top of my list.

You can't explain that.

Then make sure to find out if you like being in the car. Surely the BMW will leave you with more dynamic prowess, but I'd imagine the LS as being a pretty good alrounder to own. It will also just be vintage one day instead of old ... if that helps.

Yeah, I'm for that one, too.

Suggested livery. Drop the gumball machine and you're set. Rozzer's Pizza Delivery.

Hmm, I'm thinking from least to most desirable: LS, S6o, 325is, M45. The Bimmer might even be on top. It surely would if it had a stick. But the M45? Now that's interesting !

I've always liked the ls400, It has a cool story and 100K miles in 14 years is not a bad record (and toyota can take a lot more). That being said, the M45 is far more interesting that anything else here.

I showed the future classic article to my girlfriend as part of my reasoning, to prove that I wasn't completely alone or crazy. She didn't see the appeal at first, but she came around to the idea that it was like a Japanese Jag.

Well, I'll still have the MR2 for fun driving and commuting. These are about utility and for when I need to move more than just me, and aren't about anything but comfort, safety, and carrying stuff. The second-gen LS is my least favorite LS, but this one seems to be in good nick.

And you almost had your list in the same order as mine, but the Volvo ends up at the bottom of mine because of the turbo 5 and its potential maintenance costs. And, yes, if the bimmer were manual, it would top the list easily.

The LS430 still looks relatively fresh if you have the facelift lights.

Now I'm looking at these myself ... I wonder how well the new-ish cars (think 2001-2006) will age.
