For those unaware, certain vehicles in GTA come in two versions. One is a beater, rusty, dirty, and can never me made into as-new condition, no matter how many times you repair or wash it. The Karin Rebel is one of those vehicles. I already have a "beater' version, and the "clean" version doesn't allow for any body mods whatsoever, but I had to have a clean one, in black. I just need white-letter tires and some window tint:

Too bad there's no lights on the roll bar with yellow covers:

Anyway, I replaced my Blista with the clean Rebel, so !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .

I think thats the most real 4x4 vehicle in the game, with that one i climb the tallest mountain more easy than with any other SUV/pickup/jeep

Are there actual performance upgrades in GTA V? Or just appearance parts, like in San Andreas?

For some reason, it never really crossed my mind that there weren't any performance mods in GTA SA, but turns out there weren't and no one bothered creating a mod to add performance mods :/

Lots of performance mods in V, actually.

Nice. I heard cars still disappear on you if you leave them unattended though, isn't it a little annoying having to repurchase a car and mods everytime that happens?

Or those stuff are only available online and you don't lose any of it during/between matches? SA is my only experience with GTA so far and I kinda wish the automotive part was more like in Driver Parallel Lines: performance mods, visual mods, vehicles that don't disappear after you've stored them in a garage and street and circuit races.

You can put a tracker on your car that will keep it located at all times, even if you leave it unattended, and it will show up with you when you spawn. You can also buy insurance in case you blow the thing up.

That's awesome, pretty much how it should've been from the start. I get way too attached to my virtual cars to keep finding new ones to steal everytime the one I'm using despawns from the face of the world.

This is likely too much info for you, but whatever. I hate for people to be misinformed. For the most part, cars were never intended to disappear in GTAV, but they did due to bugs.

There was actually two different "disappearing car" bugs. One was in single player, the other was in Online. Each mode also handles vehicle storage quite differently for one another.

The single player bug has been fixed, though I suspect that there is still a minority of players who still think they are losing their vehicles. Each of the three characters has his own garage. You can store your car in a garage, but if it or any car that character has driven is abandoned on the street, the police will impound it. You can retrieve it for a fee, but there's only enough storage in the impound for your each character's most recently abandoned vehicles. Each character also has one unique default car assigned to him permanently. It cannot be impounded or lost, and when it is destroyed, an identical one will replace it at the character's home. These cars (Franklin's Bravado Buffalo, Michael's Obey Tailgater, Trevor's Canis Bodhi) are excellent candidates for upgrades, since they're absolutely guaranteed to be with you the entire game.

The Online bug had to do with the fact that all multiplayer progression is stored online, not on the console. The Online launch was very buggy, and people had a hard time connecting online. Sometimes when they did, their player stats were reset to level 0, including rank, vehicles, weapons, property, etc. In Online, you also have a garage, but it is managed by your "mechanic" (I'm using quotes to denote a virtual item, not a real, living mechanic). Any car you garage will automatically have a "tracker" fitted (or, you can buy a tracker before you get to your garage). If you abandon your car, it shows up on your map, and will never disappear unless it is destroyed (blown up). If you've purchased "insurance" for that vehicle and it is destroyed, you can make a "claim" and have it replaced for a fee. You can call your mechanic to deliver any of your tracker-equipped vehicles to you.

Ah, I see. It's not too different from the older games then, where you left a car, to complete a mission, for example, and it vanished on you. At least you have a chance to get it back now, but it's still annoying.

I just happened to spot one on the road at the west end of the Alamo Sea. And when I was online looking for a clean BF Surfer with a roof rack/surfboard (thanks to this thread on gtaforums ), I found a spot where parked clean Rebels seem to spawn, along with Sandkings, Bisons, & old campers. Go to this beach during the day:

A good trick is to use a helicopter. There's seems to always be one, two or three different trucks, vans, or campers there. If the one you want isn't there, just fly away a bit (up to the highway) and return. The vehicles there should regenerate, hopefully with different models.

Oh wow, thanks for the info! I hope you didn't go out of your way to circle the map, else I'm afraid such kindness may give me a feel.

You're welcome, glad to help. I got the image and the helicopter idea from the linked thread .
