I was looking primarily at the HTC One and the Moto X.

Do you have a particular price point in mind? Are you limited to a certain carrier?

The HTC One and Moto X are great phones from what I've heard; I'd add the Samsung GALAXY S 4 to that list since it's $199.99 to start, and it's getting a 4.3 update soon for smartwatch compatibility. The HTC One Google Edition is getting a 4.3 update as well, I think.

The new Nexus 5 with Android 4.4 KitKat is also available for $149.99 on contract with Sprint if you pre-order it from Best Buy.

I have the Moto X and I love it. If you're not with Verizon, you might want to check out the Nexus 5. It's a little more expensive than the One or the X, but you could recoup that cost by having a cheaper plan, since the Nexus is unlocked, and you buy it outright.

The HTC one is very nice, but no one buys it for some reason. Personally, i stopped spending stupid amounts of money on phones (all phones are off contract here, pretty much). I bought a nexus, and i'm happy with it. The new nexus 5 looks as if it will kick some serious ass at a reasonable price.

What are you using now? I'm still using the SIII. My Dad got the SIV and it's it's nice. Some decent improvements. My SIII is showing it's age, but it's still plays all the games, makes calls, texts, and takes pictures (the camera software is probably the worst feature on this phone).

What are you not liking about your current droid and what features are you looking for in a new one?

Both of those are great. Why not consider the Galaxy S4 ? LG G2 has some awesome specs, too, but probably less aftermarket accessory support.

The new sony (Xperia something) is really purdy and got good reviews. I'd go with that one, even if it isn't the best spec-wise. Check it out.

Nexus 5. Fantastic phone and you don't need to sign a two year commitment. I have the Nexus 4 which has been great and I've been trying to decide if I want to upgrade to the 5. Neither of the two you're looking at are bad options though.

I had pretty much decided on the Moto X until I discovered it doesn't have a memory card slot. That killed it for me as I keep my phone stuffed with music and photos. I'm really disappointed as I really like the idea of the nearly-pure-Android OS that it runs and I'm not keen on rooting a phone.

Don't bother with the HTC One. The processor and camera really aren't up to par and the metal case causes serious heat issues.

I'd recommend one of the Galaxies or an LG G2.

My sister's got a One and it's really nice. Quite a few reviewers put it top as well, and on a side note the free headphones are better than my Sennheiser CX300s (if too bassy from time to time, although that can be sorted with the right music app). Considering getting one myself, or a Nexus 5.

What carrier are you on? I'd suggest Moto X or Nexus 5. Droid Maxx is also good on Verizon.

I'm on Rogers, and my current phone is an HTC Vivid running CM 10.2 Kang, with JB 4.3...

So I'm a bit of an Android power user, but want something on contract from rogers, I was leaning towards the Moto X with its bare android, but very usable extra features...

I like my phone, but its pretty beat up, and the battery life is pretty bad (although improved over stock, I can squeese a day out of it now).

I'd mainly like better battery life, and a faster phone overall... my phone is starting to show its age... I was leaning towards the Moto X.

I'm actually right there with you, but I eventually caved to ordering an S4 for my next leash at work. I actually played with the LG G2 and S4, and HTC ONE at the store before deciding.... The LG G2 is sexier and is better on paper, but will not have any aftermarket support since it'll most likely be a niche model.

The accessory market for the S4 is much larger than the others... It's hard enough to find non iPhone accessories at the store as it is. Oh well, it's just another leash.

Fair enough, although accesories aren't a huge deal for me... just a little phone case does me fine, I never even had a case for my Vivid for the time I've had it.

It was just released by Google this week, has some great reviews so far, and is really cheap compared to other top of the line phones. Besides, you get the stock android software and none of the gimmicky BS that every other phone manufacturer bundles in with their phones.
