Kinja'd!!!

Asking $3600, talked with the seller today, and he's a real knowledgeable, down to earth sounding dude. I don't want a car payment, and I find myself in need of a back seat. I think this would complement the MR2 quite nicely. Oh, and he's swapping the wheels today. Apparently a friend of his didn't want those (and neither did I)
Here's the ad, which is pretty thorough.
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

What do you guys think?

Update: I kinda dug it. It definitely doesn't look as good as the pictures make it out to be, and it's definitely showing it's age in a LOT of places. The seller's a good dude, though, and knows his shit. Definitely enjoyed meeting him. I told him the most I'd pay for it, and we left it at "we'll see what happens." He's got no dire need to sell it, I have no dire need to buy it. If a better offer comes along, no sweat. If one doesn't, I may revisit it with another set of eyes. The exhaust is shit, but the engine and transmission are in fantastic shape. Needs tires badly. No power steering (not sure if standard, there). Tons of squeaks and rattles and little broken plastic bits. So, probably won't go for it.

Kinja'd!!!

Looks like a NP to me.

Didn't notice it in the ad but it didn't say AWD, which means it's probably a FWD version. Thats a big knock against it in my book because the AWDness was the big cool factor for these for me. I used to have an EF civic but it was a piece of shit. This one is getting up there in miles and doesn't look like it's ever had a rebuild, which isn't great. I think $3600 is a little much, it's got a lot of "extras" but I'd check to see what quality they are, it looks like an ebay strut bar, so I would say that all the suspension parts he's talking about are of questionable quality. So check that our carefully.
I wouldn't pay $3600 for this car, I think you can do better. I bought a '01 Cherokee with 115k miles and a 5-speed for $4000 in Austin this summer. I bought a 78 Volvo with a 16V motor swap for $3800 in September in Round Rock. There are better deals to be had in Austin.

I would say NP Hondas run forever and this seems extremely well taken care of.

Other than the chromed Mugen rims and the dropped suspension - which I could not abide - I'd say it's a NP. Civic Wagon = Goodness. Would still try to knock him down a few hundred, though.

Fun fact: They were sold as the Civic Shuttle in Europe. So with it being white with with black accents, you'd drive the SPACE SHUTTLE!

*badum tish* I'm here all week. Please tip your waitresses!

I think I sound a little too harsh about this car: I said my old civic was a piece of shit, and it was, but I also loved it. I don't think this car is bad, I just think it's seriously overpriced. I don't think I would pay more than $2k for it, and that's if it's as good as he says it is. Unless it actually is AWD, in which case I might pay more

Looks great. Has 70-100K miles left in it. Biggest plus seems to be the seller's attitude and care for the car. That said I'd still try to knock him down to $3000 though (which may be what he's actually looking for anyway).

I know! That's what I've already started calling it in my head.

He sold the rims to a friend today, so I don't have to take care of that. I'm kinda curious about the suspension. Seller was telling me about how he'd had it set up, and recommended raising it some. I kinda dig the idea of a wagon with adjustable suspension.

That's the plan. I don't think I'll pay more than 3k. But I dig it. So.... We'll see.

As others had said, you should definitely haggle. That being said, for a car of that age to look that good, it's a pretty NP. High mileage, but not for a well maintained civic, it has lots more to give.
Not sure why everyone hates the wheels that he sold, I don't mind them. That should reduce the value of the car, though.

Looks clean. I'm not diggin' the steering wheel but apart from that NP indeed.

Make sure you test drive it on bumpy roads before you buy it. The suspension might be so stiff it will rattle your brain. I put lowering springs and fat roll bars on a neon I had and while it was fun to drive it was way too harsh for my kids to ride in.

That's a good point. Thankfully, there are nothing but bumpy roads here.

I'd be surprised if this one were AWD (and, uh, very pleasantly). This one's only a year newer than my very first car, an 87 Accord. I still love Hondas of this era, and this one looks mostly right (we'll see what the wheels end up, the ones on it in the photo gotta go).

I hated the wheels, too, and would have gotten rid of them posthaste. Curious what he put on in their stead. I'll find out tomorrow, I guess.

I've had two Hondas, though both accords, in my past that blew head gaskets at 200k, so I'm a little wary of that. But the seller seems to know his shit and take good care of it.

Yeah, that wheel is way outta place. But, hey. Not a big deal to switch at some point.
