No doubt the V4 motor enjoys the cool temps, and the scenery ain't bad either ! Just a week or two more and the colors will be done here in the Mid-Atlantic.

I read V4 engine and only saw trees in the kinja cropped image. I got my hopes up for a Saab Sonett.

Sorry to disappoint you guys... This V4 on two wheels is how I get my groove on.

If you want to have some serious fun some afternoon, pull the muffler off and run it for a bit. I had a91, and they sound so glorious you will not believe it. It is loud, although the huge resonator underneath dampens it down a bit. I think it was three bolts on the pipe flange, and then the hanger, but it is pure sex!

I have ridden it without the pipe on it between exhaust swaps... It doesn't have a great 'note' without an expansion chamber to mellow the exhaust pulses... I've got a Two Brothers Racing muffler which makes it_just_ loud enough and gives it a mellow tone. It lopes like a SMC with a big cam at idle, and screams like a banshee @ 11,000rpm. Best of both worlds.

They must have deleted the resonator then. Mine had a big collector under the swingarm pivot as I recall, and from there it went out to the flange. It was big, heavy and somewhat redundant part, so it makes sense that they would ditch it.

The 91 (a third gen VFR) may have had a resonator there - the 45-state model 98's did. The 5-state 98's and all models up to since then have had a catalytic converter in that space. ;-)

The cat-brick does some muffling but little tone quality improvement. It just sounds too harsh/barky at high RPM without _something_ connected to the outlet.
