RPM is one of those shops that never seems real . Most enthusiasts in the Vermont (and perhaps the New England area as well) have probably seen the shot of three Ferrari 330 coupes outside of a clean red barn, but the reality - including not just Ferrari cars but Bentleys, Jaguars, Aston Martins, Maseratis, Porsches, and any car with a dramatic history that needs any level of work or maintenance - manages to be far more profound.

It's an incredible shop, and one that I've finally got the opportunity to film last August. But the video is finally up, and you can take a look at some of the amazing vehicles that were hidden inside on the rainy summer day that I stopped by. The shop has a cool history itself, as told by owner Peter Markoswki. So enjoy the video, and catch some vintage Ferrari (and Porsche, and Jaguar) car porn on this Saturday morning.

Nice Writeup! The gems that are being worked on there are amazing! If you are ever in the Rutland Vt area (Mount Holly) check out East Coast Collision and Restoration. They were working on a '69 XKE earlier this year and a nice looking Morgan. Next to the shop they have a smattering of odd cars sitting in the weeds... from classic minis to a military vehicle. Behind that group is a trail that leads behind the trees. I am wicked curious if there are any cars tucked back there as well.

Good Christ. Ok:

1. I want him to refill my windshield fluid on my Mazda 5.

2. Rain drops on waxed classic cars = single tear running down my cheek.

3. Sorry, dad, but I want this guy to adopt my 46 yr old ass.

As a licensed automotive tech all I can say is: How do I get a job at a place like this!?

I grew up just south of rutland, in Clarendon! I know the shop you're talking about, definitely worth a visit.

I have to separate them into eras, I love the 250LM but its so different than the earlier cars I can't really have one inclusive category for Ferrari.

True, the LM is gorgeous, and so is the Lusso, but the moment I saw a 1968 330 GTC in fly yellow with Boranni wheels in the Feb 2008 Road and Track, it was love at first sight. And the 1966 275GTS Spider is a looker as well (one in the same magazine).

Now, as for the Supercars, the F40 and F50...both in black, would definitely take the cake.

BTW, that looks to be a Lusso right beside that 250LM.

Very nice video. Thanks for posting. I'm positive he's got a wealth of knowledge and interesting facts and could watch, listen and look around those cars for hours.

Another incredible piece of work, David. Still can't believe all the hidden gems you're finding in those Green Mountains!

Same here (and I've spent a not-insignificant amount of time thinking about it!). For me though, I have to divide it down further; early post-war and later 250/275/330 eras, spiders and berlinettas, road-going GTs and sports racers, production and one-off coach-built... The attached 330 LMB is my dream du jour.

One of these days, I need to put a grand or two aside and buy the favorites...in miniature. :)

I honestly got the James May fizz when he fired that baby up. Sitting here at work it's really quite awkward.

My buddy worked there. Complete and utter shithole. You don't see what happens behind the scenes.

I know these guys well, they do fantastic work. Great film too bad the filmmaker didn't use Lav mics so we could enjoy the sound better!

This was my first shoot with my then-new 6D (had gotten the camera about two days before), and the Rode mic was still in my T2i bag. I was also disappointed to find that the 6D is a rather noisy camera as far as processing is concerned - the camera picks up a lot of its own noise while shooting, so it's hard to boost volume later.

Rode mics solve that though. I did a shoot in California a few weeks later using primarily Rodes for sound, and it fixed all the issues. They're pretty directional, and in outdoor even shoots I'll often take a Rode over a lav - it gives some ambient noise to give a sense of environment without being intrusive, while still giving the main speaking voice some great range and depth.

Thanks! There's a few more places (and collections, if you'd believe it) that I'm working on getting in the future. Hopefully one or two of those shops will be over the winter.
