Traded my Cadillac ATS 2.5L for a MB CLA250. More power, more features. We'll see how it works out.

Damn, you don't keep cars very long.

Engine? In UK the CLA180 is too slow

Sweet, you have to do a jalopnik review after you get used to the car!

I thought it was a 2.5 because of the name, apparently not. It's a 2.0 that makes 208 hp at 5000 rpm.

Nice sedan

Mercedes are as bad as BMW with naming conventions. Ours is a 1.6t. Yours sounds much better

Your average depreciation rates must make the Zimbabwean dollar look stable. How much did you lose in the trade-in?
The mid-range ATS is the one to get, from what I've read. Only a few thousand dollars more, 70 more HP instantly and available four wheel drive.

I think it's a transverse 4 cylinder 2 liter turbo. It makes 208hp at 5000 RPM, but 258 torque at 1250 RPM. That car is pretty fast off the line.

Though at least yall have this right now. Though I think they're going to bring it over soon.

It was a lease assumption, so I lost nothing in the trade. I got a dude to take over the payments for the remaining 28 months of the lease and made it all legal with the lease company. I am no longer financially responsible for the ATS. You're right about the 2.0T ATS being the sweet spot, but I wanted one with AWD drive and they were ~42K.

True. It's only a 2.0 but is mega powerful

I know. I have lost all credibility with my friends. If I tell them I am going to keep this car for the life of the lease, they just roll their eyes.

Was the ATS that bad?
![]() 11/01/2013 at 14:28 |

Oh I have no doubt! But then again I bet it's nothing to my fire breathing demon that produces an ungodly 115 horse power and an earth rotating 111 foot pounds of torque!
![]() 11/01/2013 at 14:29 |

True that it's only a 2.0 but anything is that powerful when you let AMG strap a turbo the size of saturn to it!

If it isn't rainy and windy tomorrow, I am going to put it through it's paces. Maybe I will write a review. I spent 8 years writing hardware and software reviews for computer trade mags, so why shouldn't I be able to write a car review?

Solid choice

Would that I had the extra $15K. I think it makes 356HP!

What ever happened to the numbers on the back being the ACTUAL displacement?

there is no reason why not!

Ah, automotive leases. They're like the Black Card of buying cars. Tons of unusual and often useful perks, good dealer services, good customer experience, peace-of-mind, efficiency, and all at exorbitant, irrational long-term costs.
![]() 11/01/2013 at 14:42 |

Hey, if you get cars at the rate I do, it makes more sense. Or at least that's how I rationalize it.
![]() 11/01/2013 at 14:44 |

No, it wasn't bad at all. I got a good deal on lease. No money down and a payment I could afford. But it was a 2.5L and I should've gone for a 2.0T.
![]() 11/01/2013 at 14:46 |

I know. It used to be so easy. I had a '94 BMW 325is and it was 3-series with a 2.5 liter engine. My next BMW was a 323i which had a 2.5 liter engine. I'm not sure why the CLA250 isn't the CLA200.

I have to post more on OppositeLock. No judgement, just the free exchange of ideas and rational discussion.

Question: What made you choose the 2.5 over the 2.0T?

You monster! Why do you have to be so cruel?
![]() 11/01/2013 at 16:57 |

It probably has to do with perception or something. 250 sounds bigger (and therefore it must have more power, right?), than 200. Kinda like a $99.99 shoe that is significantly cheaper than a $100 shoe.

Why does Mercedes have to be so cruel by only giving us the sedan and denying us the A-Class hatchback? Even Canada gets the B-class but we still don't! :(
Oh wait, they're the reason we have that lame-ass 25-year import rule. What do you expect from them?

I have a similar issue with my family and friends. Tell me, is 15 vehicles in 11 years all that bad? I don't think so. Although, I did keep one of them for 4 years. That makes it a little worse I guess. Congrats on the ride. As long as you're happy (if only temporarily) that's all that matters!

It's because they hate everyone with OCD.
For example, the F30 320i and 328i have the same engine. Literally it's the same engine.

Argh! Got backed into in a parking lot tonight. What was that? 27 hours? I hate it when a new car gets ruined. It'll need either the rear bumper cover painted or a new one. It wasn't cracked, so maybe it can just be painted. I am soooo mad right now.
![]() 11/01/2013 at 22:33 |

Price. They had a lease deal at a good price on the 2.5.

If I could get a different car that frequently, I would. I drove the new car through the Dunkin Donuts drive through and the kid asked me if I owned a car dealership. He had seen me drive the Caddy, a C300 (which was a loaner) and the CLA, in just three days.

I know the feeling. I don't necessarily consider it a bad thing.
