...I really need some skids practice. I'm not going to !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , but I am honestly scared of my rear wheels in the wet after I spun off an on-ramp that one time. I only have a vague idea of my limitations. Who has a big wet parking lot that I can use...

Well then here ya go! It's a little bumpy in parts but it is oh so enormous and has always been empty save for a few semis sometimes parked in one corner or another. There are about four lots of various sizes to fuck around in. Good times!

Oh yeah, definitely know where that is. Now, if only we could find a day when it was rainy.....

The other night it rained a bit and I took my Miata out for the first time in the rain and experiencing RWD in the wet. I found out I am very sloppy with correction and need to work on that. I need to go and find a nice large parking lot to go practice slides but I just moved to a new area which is a college town, they might frown on such behaviors. There are a few roundabouts by me but they are far too small to slide around without possibility of a curb smack.

Correction requires a lot of practice. You have to be in a situation where you don't care if you mess up, instead of the fear/adrenaline burst that comes from leaving the road and getting stuck in a ditch... that's not a good way to practice. Trust me.

Heh, I keep trying to get out to PGP park to do some karting in the rain, but it's always dry. Weird conundrum for seattle.

I wish the one I pass every day in Lakewood (Yes, I'm a bit far south) was outdoors. PGP would be awesome in the rain.

I dont think i've ever been to that one down in Lakewood. I've been to Sykart in renton which looks similar, its in a big warehouse. Karts are always fun no matter what, but driving them outdoors in the rain is awesome.
I've only ever done it once. I was in china on a dude ranch (weird story, I was there for a giant all night party and only saw the karts the next morning.)
Anyway the kart track was totally empty, probably because it was raining and the operator guy looked at me like I was crazy when I told him i wanted to go out there. "You're going to get soaked and your clothes will get all dirty"
I told him I didn't care, as I had been up all night anyway and wasn't really going to get any grosser.
Anyway it was fucking glorious. I was channeling takumi out there and before long a bunch of other people started lining up for their turn, much to the disbelief of the kart guy.
Someday it'll be rainy when I head out to PGP.

Awesome. I've been to Sykart before, it's fun. I did kart in the rain once, at a dinky little place in Sumner. It's not generally a very good place, but as you said, karts are always fun. Especially in the rain.
You go out to PGP often?

PGP is great but expensive. My friends and I try to get out there at least once or twice a year, but it's by no means a regular thing.
Every time we go, we think we're the shit, mopping up all the random people out on track. Then a regular will show up and absolutely make us their bitch.
The last time I went, my friends and I all participated an endurance race. It was all regulars besides us, and in my forty or so minutes of track time the only person I passed was one of my friends. Humbling, but STILL SO MUCH FUN!
