So should I stick with my current car, a 2002 Proton Perdana V6 or should I use choose my old Proton Satria? Yes I own a lot of Protons but I kinda wish I own something else but those things are cheaper than a Honda Civics.

Kinja'd!!!

2002 Proton Perdana V6

The pros -

6A12 V6 engine. 148HP

Smooth engine ride (apperently the handling was tuned by Lotus)

spacious interior for me (I'm a huge guy)

The cons -

Dreadful 4 speed auto Gearbox

Gearbox have a high chance of failing (huge issues with Perdanas)

or should I pick this:

Kinja'd!!!

1998 Proton Satria Gli

The Pros

Manual! yay

it's a bit more sporty

slightly modified. 17' rims, lightened flywheel , racing Clutch and Coilovers

The cons -

bodywork (rusted roof need changing)

4G15 engine has only 90bhp

alarm and stereo dont work anymore.

Can you guys help me? I'm keeping my Previa as my daily and the chosen car will be more a weekend car.

Modified is always a con.

So basically, you're asking if a basic manual is so much better than a failure-prone automatic, that it would be worth having a car that is seemingly worse in every respect because of it? I would normally say no, but in your case, since this is a weekend car, it's a bit tougher.

I personally say to stay with the Perdana, unless you are sure that its gearbox is going to fail very soon.

Could selling both and getting a more modern Satria Neo be a possibility?

Nope. If I sell both cars, I have to add another MYR 5,000 just to buy a lousy spec auto Satria Neo

I'm still worried about the gearbox though but the V6 engine is just a pleasure to drive. lol

Alright then. Just figured it could be smart to cover all bases and possibilities.

If I had to choose between the two, I'd choose the Satria GLi.

It has less power, needs a little work, and is smaller, but practicality is what you have the Previa for, right?

Yup. I usually haul stuff with the previa. The Satria will act as a project / weekend car

Why have these as weekend cars, its not like they are sporty or fast. Sell all your cars and get something that is a little less beige.

could the 4G15 be replaced by a 4G63 in the future?

Most unbeige cars i can think of are far more expensive.

240SX - pretty rare in Malaysia, modified ones are about $17k. stock ones might worth more

Miata - Ultra rare - mostly auto. $20k if you can find one though

RX8 - $25k with automatic trans

I would list more but sadly i just can't afford them due to the taxes imposed by our beloved goverment even if I sold both cars. One thing, Malaysian had a thing with automatics transmission. So most of this sport cars have automatic trans than a proper manual one.

if that is a reasonably easy swap, that would make your choice easier. I mean, you'd then go from having something boring to something insane, just like that.

swapping it is easy but finding a good motor is hard but I might do it someday

I don't know where you are. finding a 4G63 is pretty simple on eBay. is it difficult to import engines to your country?

Im in Malaysia. there's nothing on ebay. Importing an engine is a bomb for an average joe like me. I can buy one from a halfcut store (somewhat of a JDM junkyard) but most of the owners overcharged..
