Yes he is. If you have even a basic understanding of how suspension works or what is required to go around corners quickly then you too will hate stance. Add in the fact that these ricers tend to ruin some of the best cars and you have a recipe for disaster. ADD TO THAT the fact that you have to share the roads with these idiots and it makes them a collection of all the worst things in current car culture.
I guess I can respect the fact that these people are at very least interested in cars, but anything beyond that gets nothing but hate from me. More often than not these cars are poorly setup, unsafe and require irreversable modifications that ruin the chassis or make them illegal to the point they wouldn't pass any sane persons inspection - thus rendering these cars useless.
Cars I hate to see stanced (read: ruined) include:
WRXs, Evos, Miatas, Cobalt SSs, R32s, supras, brz/frs, etc.
If you need more reasons I hate stance I can go on for days and days and days.
Im willing to bet I can make an article on the topic that is compelling enough to make it to the FP... **runs away to write article about how I hate stance**

Hahaha. instead of "fatlace" and "hellaflush" stickers we should make some "douchebro" stickers in some stylized font and slap em on every stancedouchemobile we can find. I'll bet they leave em on.

I look at it as people who aren't concerned about maximum performance. No different than lowriders, SLABs, or any other aesthetically-driven group.
None of those are really rare cars. It's not like they're all going away.

I know why the super low look is terrible for handling, but if someone wants to build a car that way then they can. I think he is making fun of the fact that some of the people shouldn't be allowed to touch a car based on their inability to do anything right.

No, but in 10 years there will be far less of them. Like I said - I respect their right to be idiots, but I also reserve the right to hate it. I know I wont stop it, but explain why they cant just go stance 10 year old civics, jettas and other crap like that. I respect that much more than taking a specialty performance vehicle and making them undriveable. People weren't making lowriders, rats and slabs out of niche performance cars back in the day (im sure there are some exceptions) - they were doing it with crapcans and modifying them to suit their needs. It seems like these "stancebros" are doing this out of spite or something, with their "I
ALL OF THAT ASIDE, when I am surrounded by these cars (especially in my little part of the country) that are riding on "custom made" control arms and diy spindle redrills (for different wheel bolt patterns) with 20mm spacers with stock studs & lug nuts hanging on by 3 threads its a different story. Especially when these guys are also driving around with their steering wheels out the window and hauling ass everywhere.
Now that said, I am sure I sounded harsh when explaining how I feel (I am not an unreasonable person, though it may seem that way) but for me, as a performance enthusiast this is just breaking all the rules. There are exceptions to every rule, and I'm sure there is a build somewhere that isn't that bad. However, if you want to stance something and make it undrivable at least start with a blank slate - like a base model of any of the cars I listed. The miatas and such piss me off less, but its the sti's, evos, s2ks and cars like that that make my blood boil so far as ruining a car goes.
Anyways, that is just my little opinion - everyone has one, I just cant wait for the fad to die. The thing with these fads (donks, lambo doors, F&F replicas, stance) is that they go out of style.
Going fast around corners, however, will not go out of style.

This. Just this right here is an excellent example of the intelligence that goes into these builds:
During winter time somebody crashed into my bumper and ruined it. Finding this one again is pretty hard, so I gave it to a guy to fix it. He's building boats and knows how to handle this plastic stuff. Probably it would have become a mess, if I'd tried to fix it by myself.
I didn't even make it past the 2nd picture before I found that gem.

There's no doubt that the people being unsafe about it are idiots. I agree with you all the way there.

unfortunately this seems to be the rule more than the exception.
Most guys get coilovers, run them on the lowest setting and like it.
Then they remove the lower lock rings & cut bumpstops to go that extra 1/4" and like it.
At this point they are as low as the car can go, and in 99% of cases this is just what I would call "slammed". Now to get that extra bit of "low" to be "cool" they start running crazy camber (through methods I listed above) spacers and terrible home fabrication. Usually when a car is setup to the point that it can be called "stanced" a lot of dangerous things are already going on.
Even just that crazy camber is enough to make the car extremely unstable at speed. Now put that car in a situation where it needs to panic brake, gets caught in rain/snow or has to avoid an obsticle/pedestrian/child. They really should be illegal

Put a race-prepped Miata on max-performance tires in the snow, or try to avoid an obstacle or panic-stop in an offroad truck. There are plenty of car modifications that are going to reduce the safety of a car.
There was already that trend of people cutting their springs to get better performance. Idiots will be idiots.

It is just so bad. The thing that kills me is these guys are usually SOOOO close to a nice car and then they do something really fucking stupid and ruin the whole thing.

Truth. Now if we could only replace this fad with a new one where everyone drives around in prepped miatas.... That is a world I could live in!!

Yes and no. Some of them are genuinely cool. Then there are others... who think building a frame in your garage is easy, and claim 'rat rod' as an excuse for lack of design thought and safety.
