Didn't one of the later games have a car that looked like a 3rd gen? I know in VC they had a 2nd gen trans am

They kind of screwed it up with that front fascia though, at least in my opinion. There's a mod out there that changes the front and rear of the car to that of the 80's Camaro, but without changing the rest of it to HD textures or high poly counts.
Thousand times better!
