Fuck. I replied to them. Shouldn't have fed the trolls. Did feed the trolls. FUCK. Might as well crack open another beer and see where it leads me.

Yeah when I responded with my story for becoming a car enthusiast even though I couldn't drive at the time he was like. BITCH MY FRIEND HAS A COBRA AND A GT40

I DRIVE A DODGE STRATUS!

Dude. You're response was solid. And as I'm finishing my 3rd Martini before going to sleep I'm letting my own response marinade. These people never understand how damn stupid they sound, it is amazing.

Yeah I was asking the same thing reading those posts, I'm not sure what he did to deserve those kinds of replies.
![]() 10/29/2013 at 23:44 |

I also replied to the "HERP DERP BAJABUG AIN'T NO DREAM CAR" guy.

Yeah I fed the trolls too but I was incredulous at his use of the word noob. Still am. In something masquerading as a real point....I'm sad now.
![]() 10/29/2013 at 23:45 |
|
There's a simple explanation, really.
![]() 10/29/2013 at 23:46 |

I know man. I just get so disgusted by people that think that they are the best fucking thing and they will ALWAYS know more about some thing than anyone else. I usually don't respond to shit like that as I am a fan of laughter and positivity (i'm a huge fan of poop jokes). But I really felt like that shit from both those assholes was totally unwarranted. Who the fuck are they to judge someone's desire and infatuation with cars? Fucking hate people.
![]() 10/29/2013 at 23:47 |

Wow, that escalated quickly. I actually got angry after reading all his mouth diarrhea and responded in turn.

He can enjoy a Three's Company gif. He deserves it.
![]() 10/29/2013 at 23:50 |

fucking love three's company.

He did nothing. Those guys suck.
![]() 10/29/2013 at 23:54 |

No shit, right? I just wonder what kind of depressed, self-loathing, insecure bully that guy really is in real life. Ah, the internet. A place where everyone is faceless, infallible, and bigger than you.
![]() 10/29/2013 at 23:54 |

I'm pretty sure that Raph drives a lambo, dude.

Sometimes you just need to drop your pants, aim for penetrate, and show him who's really the bigger man.
![]() 10/30/2013 at 00:05 |

This is why I rarely ever go there. Let alone comment.
![]() 10/30/2013 at 00:05 |

Yeah, and he meant it as if that made him the Shit when it comes to cars.
Actually, it's just bullshit.

thirded

Commented. Ya know - we need to keep this guy around, its fun to talk shit on someone that is so universally hated.

I mean, dude has a point that I'm not experienced. I know and meet tons of mechanics and older gearheads who have so many more stories than I do or may ever have.
I just want to tell their stories, and tell mine too.

I understand that positive criticism is very important in the professional world. I wouldn't be where I am without it. It helps me learn where I am fucking up and how to fix it. This is not the case here. I have been reading your posts since you started here and I honestly have never EVER have felt like you, or any of the other writers deserve those comments. It's just angry and non-productive. But, such is life on the internets... I know you don't need me or anyone else to tell you, but keep doing your thing just like you have been. Also, I have always wanted a Baja Bug too. Look forward to more crazy antics with it!
Peace out brah.

Goddammit, I did the same knee-jerk reply to the assholes.

My Mom says that I was emotionally distraught as a child when Three's Company aired its last episode. It was the only show that didn't involve a cool car that made me sad when it ended. I bawled when Herbie, the Love Bug ended after just one season and when the Dukes of Hazzard ended. Three's Company must have done something right if I got into it without a single car chase scene...

Inexperience, I have no problem with. Elitism and telling people who they are, that can go eat a bag of dicks. Sorry I'm not being my most eloquent—intolerance makes me delve into my rage-vocabulary.

Keep on telling your stories. Ignore the trolls, as trolls will be trolls. They will say anything for the high they get from trolling. They're addicts, plain and simple. When a top White House national security aide can't help himself from trolling in secret you know it's a real medical problem!

I hope you don't mind, but I quoted you in my reply.
OMG, I went back to find my post, and it seems that there are quite a few replies to the nasty comment.

Lol, of course I don't mind!

The point for most of us is that it is YOUR experience, no matter how large or small (and when you have been a car person for a while, reading about the next Lamborghini is nowhere near as exciting as reading about a road trip in a beater), and it is something of interest because of its similarities, the way you tell the story, and the fact that it is personal. People who have connection like personal sharing (just not too much).
The idea of this side of Jalopnik (the Oppo community, the real Jalop culture) is that we are a tribe where everyones' stories have value...you bring us information in exchange for money, yes, but as the writing staff you are also intimately connected to the jist of our tribe and you guide (via the FP) the way our community looks. If the option was to have a shared experience with someone "new" to cars vs. having a boring recitation of facts about a new beige from an established writer at one the paper pushers, we'll probably pick you.
I would like to think that that is why we will vehemently support you all against the burners-who-troll.
