I freaking love it. And I don't care what anyone says. The only thing keeping it from being perfect is the lack of manual transmission.

Big luxo-barges like this are one of the few cases in which I favor a manual...

I'm not a fan of their new "Mankind" ad campaign, but I have to admit I saw a new RDX in person for the first time last week and I rather liked it. Not something I thought I'd say about an crossover from Acura.

I can only imagine the replacement cost...

This is one of the least barge-ish barges available. The RL may not be RWD, but it definitely knows how to dance.

If I could only get a new RDX body with the turbo-4 and SH-AWD under the skin.

I sat in this and the ILX at the Minneapolis Auto Show earlier this year and I was seriously unimpressed. The interior on both cars felt cheap and econo-box. The Hyundai Azera, Genesis, and Equus all had much nicer interiors. I'm sure they don't drive as nice, but Acura can't honestly be trying to compete with BMW with these things. I don't see these selling any better than their current lineup.

Rereading, I definitely meant to type automatic but I'm sure you inferred that.

I did get it. But as long as there's sufficient torque to get the weight moving smoothly, I don't see how it's any worse than a midsize or a truck.

Never said you can't or shouldn't have fun in a luxury car; if I wanted to thrash around, I'd have a different car for that. I'd want my RLX to only serve as a posh coach.

For me, manual is just mandatory. There's nothing not-luxurious about rowing your own. Just one man's opinion.
