Yep, sometimes the situation in Singapore isn't quite so different from other parts of the world - on occasion you can see the odd supercar owner hogging two parking spaces instead of one. But while this person can't speak for everyone who does it, it does give a little insight into why they do it:
DEAR TRS, I WISH TO EXPLAIN WHY EXPENSIVE CAR DRIVERS TAKE UP 2 PARKING LOTS
(not that that makes other people any happier about it, judging by the comments)

If you feel the need to justify something that you are doing, you already know what you are doing is wrong.

She loses credibility by trying to justify something the overwhelming majority of the population who drives opposes.

A friend thinks the whole region is just waiting to attack his '98 E320 sedan as part of the bourgeois elite.
So it's half-a mile back in the parking lot. With a median to one side.
And every traffic maneuver is a plot to trap him.
"They just want to get me to pay their way through life if they crash into this Mercedes "
Blah. I've seen the Kelly book value.

As long as you're not taking up a spot someone else NEEDS and you're parking farther away than most normal people would choose to park I don't car. Also I didn't read the article because most external links get blocked by my firewall.

I don't have a vehicle that really deserves special treatment.
That said, I will go out of my way to improve my chances of getting away without a door ding. When I had my Civic Si, I parked next to a median whenever possible, and as closely as possible to it. If that left me a bit farther away from my destination, so be it. I'd be squeezed in with perhaps 1-2" between my wheels and that curb, effectively doubling the space between me and the next car over, should they park between the lines.
I continue that practice independent of what I'm driving. I also back in, because when pulling out of a parking spot, should someone hit you, you are at fault.
All that said, why don't your Lamborghini owners go find a far-out spot and park along an island?
However, here's a quick story how nothing is enough:
I had ran out for 'lunch' and to take a call regarding a potential new job. I found a nearby mall with perhaps 20 cars in the lot that could hold probably 500. I parked as far away from the building as possible, under a tree, and stayed in the car to take my call.
As I was on my call, another car pulls up quite close to my passenger side. I continued my call... until about 5 minutes later, that driver proceeds to finally get out and slam their door into my right rear. I had to break off that call to go say WTH to that driver.
My Civic Si was slightly dented, but there was no paint loss, as it happened to open directly on the (stock) i-VTEC sticker on that door.
Sometimes, you just can't win. So, I can understand the frustration of Lambo owners.

I'd agree, if people weren't generally assholes more often than not. Or at least, inattentive. I've called people out when I watch them whip their door open and hit my car for no reason and most just ask why I care. I ask if they would mind if I did the same to them and THEN all the sudden swinging your door open is bad. Now, I don't like it when people take up 4 or more spots in the center of a crowded lot, but taking up two spots way out in the boonies of a parking lot? They're not hurting anyone by doing that.

So is it just me who thinks that a well-used exotic with door dings, bumper scrapes, stone chips, and other everyday wear and tear is actually cooler than a pristine minter?

To be fair, you have a handicap tag on your car so little or no justfication is needed.

But because people can be assholes, not here but the general population, and make assumptions about asshat parking, I sometimes feel the need to justify or at least inform folks that yest most people who double park are asshats, but sometimes it is legit. I get the hate, and it is almost a "thing" at this point, hell I've posted my share of pics. But this double park witch hunt sometimes goes a little too far. In reality there are far worst things people do with cars than take up too many spots.

If I see a car with a handicap tag taking up two spots I'm going to figure there is some sort of ligit reason behind it. Her whole "my car is expensive so I deserve to do this" type thing just screams whiney self centered asshat. I'd put money on the fact this woman probably texts whilst driving and has no idea what a turn signal is.

You are going to figure that, because you are a reasonable human being. You are a rare breed. I get dirty looks all the time and that note was not the first, nor will be the last.

The tl;dr version:
Too many people are inconsiderate and careless and ding their nice, shiny exotic when they open their doors. It's not the right thing to do, but this way there is far less chance of that happening.
And the incident that sparked this particular driver's behaviour:
Basically my windows are pretty tinted, and after parking my car, I was putting on some of my makeup, with the engine off.
This other vehicle who just parked beside me, he probably did not know I was still in the car, and when he open the door, he basically slammed his door onto my car, leaving a dent and unsightly scratches on my car.
FYI, the parking gap between our cars is approximately 60 to 70cm.
When I got down from my car to confront him, he was very shocked, as I think he did not know there was someone in the car. And he was very defensive with his words, was hot-tempered, and he was pretty arrogant, saying that it was just small damage, and that I should just charge the bill to him.
I don't understand what got into him, but he went on to kick my car, and landed one of his fists onto the bonnet of my car.
Whether you believe me or not, I was calm, and kept telling him to calm down.
I did not retaliate to any of his harsh language. I'm a lady driver, so probably he was aggressive towards me? If I was a man, I'm not sure if he would do the same? I was in shock, as It was pretty frightening, when a uncle keep shouting at me ,"driving Lambo so what?" "You think you very rich ah?" "Who you think you are?!", and a whole lot of vulgarities.
Thank God a security officer was nearby and came over to help me.
To cut the story short, now in addition to the car damage, he also threatened me. So on top of the car damage, he has a lawyer letter as well. His family, called me to drop the suit, as they were salaried workers and did not have the money to get into these sorts of law suit.
The guy also apologized to me personally, saying that he had lost a lot of money on gambling, and was in a very bad mood that day.
I've dropped the law suit, and as for the car damage, I did not take a single cent from them.
They were not in the best of shape to pay for the damage.
This is only MY part of my story, there are lots of stories out there from other Lambo drivers on why we became very selfish drivers.

When I see someone taking two spaces with their fancy car, I just pull right up beside them regardless of where the lines are painted. ;-)

With respect to the cost of driving a car in Singapore, let alone an exotic, this behavior is understandable. I think that if it is in a pay lot, they should pay for two spaces to account for the second space they are taking up.
When I had a shitbox beater I would intentionally squeeze in next to the Benzs and Bimmers that would take up two spots in a super busy lot. I would park right up next to them so they couldn't get into their drivers door. Mind you I had a sunroof at the time that I would just climb out of so I wouldn't open my doors into any car when I parked. It is honestly just plain rude and classless to double park in a crowded lot that is near capacity. If you are concerned about your car getting dented up just buy a $500 beater to take to the shops on a busy day.
Now if a car is double parked in a lot that is practically empty and the car is towards the back of the lot I see no issue with that what so ever. I think the main issue I have with asshat parking jobs is that there is an image of entitlement when a car, especially a make that has perceived prestige, is taking up two spaces in a crowded lot that is near the entrances of the shops or what have you.
