It was amazing. Akin to watching a computer overheat, the guy went all red in the face and froze for a moment, letting out short grunts, followed by a sigh, and the "yeah, I know" look. It was great.

Saw a guy on the highway a few months ago and another at the grocery store tonight. Took everything in my power to not give him shit as he walked in.

I agree. At least Ford offers a V6 in the MKZ, to differentiate it from the Fusion, and an Ecoboost in the form of the MKS and the Taurus.
There is literally no reason to buy the Lexus ES over the Camry unless you're one hell of a masochist. No one should be paying $12000 for a fancier interior and nothing else but badge bragging rights.

Acura : For people that think well-equipped means luxury, and want something that's ugly but doesn't stand out.

Ahahaha! I think the same too.
I told my aunt who used to drive an ES350 that she just has a fancy Camry. She didn't like that very much... eventually she got an RX350 and I told her she has a nice Rav4... needless to say, she stopped asking me about car advice. :(

It says I could have bought an Audi, but I actually have to get to work and cannot afford the excessive expensive repairs and breakdowns .
The Camry is an awesome car, made only better with some added luxury and prestige (but sadly no more gold badges)

You bring up repairs like what? What the hell is wrong with you? Strawman arguments before the game even begins?
Jesus your fanboyism is pathetic, I don't know if you put up an act or if you actually believe that...
Prestige? The Lexus ES has prestige? HAHAHAHHAHAHHA. Oh god. Wow. That is brilliance.
The Camry is an awesome car? HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA.
HAHAHAHAHHAHA!
The Camry is a mediocre car. It is average. It is plain jane. It isn't spectacular. It isn't spectacular. It isn't mind blowing. It is nothing remarkable.
Get with the program and your fanboyism out of your ass.

The ILX is awesome. I love Japanese 4-cylinder luxury cars. Luxury, prestige, economy, and usually but no always sportiness. The ILX, the previous CSX and EL we never got (the old EL's had JDM orange gauges yo!), the B-class, the old G20, and the early 200s V40 (a wagon!)
I'd totally rock a CSX Type-S!
The Cimarron gave this class of cars a bad reputation; it was a piece of shit even in half-price Cavalier form.
However, when you start with a good base, then the luxury version is that much better. For example, the 92-96 Camry is the best car ever made, and the ES300 of the time just amplifies that shit.
The problem with the ILX is that the base price is too high (should start around or under 20k), and the base engine/transd should be the R20 and 6-speed manual. And of course, as with the Civic Si, it's not as cool as the previous version. Instead of 8000 rpm, Honda tried to turn the Civic into a "muscle car" (2.4L is HUGE for a small car). Perhaps if it made 250 hp NA it would be all good, then the ILX Type-S can be vindicated. Maybe 240-250 hp in Civic Si form, and another 10-15 hp in the more expensive and prestigious variant.
Another good idea is to import the European civic hatchback as the Acura Integra.
I miss gold badges too

An ES-F and Camry XRS would be awesome. 320+ hp turbo 4-cylinder, and to differentiate, the XRS can be FWD while the ES-F is AWD
BTW, the new ES is actually a LWB Avalon. Too bad the Avalon is no longer available with a front bench seat :(

Not sure about most of what you said, but having the Euro-Civic as the Integra is a great idea.
Seriously a fucking great idea.

Unfortunately my uncle bought an ES350 with me telling him not to. The worst was me almost making my aunt cry when I told her how awful her Prius is to the environment when it comes to manufacturing the batteries...

You have to admit though that the integra idea is a good one. Sometimes you gotta sift through a lot of crazy to get to the potentially-awesome

Dude, perfect. I have no problems with people driving Priuses AS LONG AS THEY KNOW that fact about the batteries AND they're not buying it to "save money." They're roomy enough to be a family car and get good gas mileage. Here in Long Island they qualify for the HOV clean pass so that's a huge incentive for some people (my dad has one, uses it for that).

The Lexus is a very very nice Camry, known for reliability. Besides, not everyone is in the market for performance or expensive repairs. Let me know how that carbon build up is on your A4's FSI engine ;)

It's the least bloated looking beak mobile in their line up, if I had to choose between TL, TSX and ILX I guess ILX would be the lesser of the evils? Sometimes I look at the TL and think WTF happened to this thing, it used to look really nice and sometimes when I'm drunk and see an all black TL I think it doesn't look half bad.

Wait so Audi's don't have excessive expensive repairs? Can we get a fucking consensus on this shit or what. Do they [German cars] or don't they have reliability issues that are excessive in costs to repair or not. One article will say German cars are great for reliability yet 100 million people will chime in to say otherwise, as a future car buyer waiting to purchase his first great car this shit drives me batshit insane.

The 'issues' are overblown and hyped out to shit.
Honestly.
Its pathetic when people say Japanese are that good and Germans are that bad. That is silly talk.
German cars are more expensive to repair when they do break, that as much is obvious. They don't however break down every 50 feet like Mr. Camry fanboy over here is bitching about.

Okay well as long as I've been posting to Jalop I've seen your name (so I think you might be pretty knowledgeable) so tell me, if I were to buy a CPO 2010 MB E350 and set aside $2k a year for maintenance/repairs while driving under 8K mi annually can I survive? And no, I don't know how to take apart an automatic transmission and put it back together. Because good God almighty I don't want to settle for some slug mobile Nissan Versa but I also don't want to spend $6k a year on repairs because of some invisible troll is eating through my electrical wiring or coolant lines.

A CPO'd Merc AND setting aside money for repairs?
Dude, that is fine.
More then fine honestly.
I just shoved my friend into a CPO 535xi M Sport. No regrets what so ever. As long as it has a few years of warranty left and you are setting aside money for any possible shenanigans, you'll be fine.

That's my point, but everyone in my circle of family/friends immediately tell me how maintenance costs will ruin me but I'm like how if I set at least $2k aside for "just in case shit" I can't imagine it going beyond that if I get CPO with extra warranty. I'd probably only keep the car for 3 years and sell it off once the warranty is about to finish. I used the E350 as an example because it's what I've been looking at for a couple of years now as a baseline good sized luxury sedan with at least 20 MPG city and some sportiness to it.
Like I said for as long as I've been posting here I've seen your name so I'd like to think what you say has value to it. How long has your buddy had the 535xi? What's the worst thing that's happened to far? (Repair/Maintenance wise)
