Took yesterday off to hang out with some people i never met.... Turned out pretty cool! The best part was cruising into sandy hook convoy style. I cant tell you how fun it is to cruise around with over half a dozen others in the same car. I urge you all to go find your car make/model club/group and meet up with them.

Kinja'd!!!

Couldnt ask for a better day. Everyone brings some food. We got a grill, and in no time were pumping out food from the back of the Acura (supplies vehicle).

Kinja'd!!!

And to my surprise, i ended up being the only wingless prelude. Do i get extra oppo points for that one?

I may have done that once or twice in years past. Good times. Doesn't matter the car, either.

I tried to setup a cruise to the hawks nest road with my group but that didn't bode well. Most of the older people would rather eat and talk about how they don't like people putting marauder parts on other panthers, and the younger people don't want to shell out the money for gas.

Track day meets have gone off rather well though, in 2 weeks we'll have one at englishtown, I expect to have 20+ cars.

yeah the car doesnt matter. Its just a matter of everyone having the same car. Or had one and still is an enthusiast of that model. Good times indeed.

I wish we had that many preludes.... =( thats like how many ludes are in the entire state of jersey.

Is Sandy Hook open? Every time I go theres cones and a park ranger at the entrance saying it's closed.

Does it change your mind that its a girls car? With a detachable steering wheel, and a sticker on the inside of her filler cap with the actual JDM warnings.

that'd be interesting, we have a lot of people on this site in the area. I wonder if that'd be best saved for spring of next year though

Well, we could start now and see if there would be enough interest to do one before years end. Id shoot for 10 people minimum. Maybe we could do a bbq/picnic at a local park or something too that day.

And whos not to say we cant have another in the spring time. The more the merrier.

Ill make a post maybe later or tomorrow to see what kind of interest we can get.

I guess it is. we were there. Albeit, like the 2nd or 3rd parking lot after going over that big bridge. The entrance had some cones around, but no one was there. It was free to get in too.

Did you happen to go during the govt shutdown? That may have been why.

I've gotten together with other Abarth owners many times. It's always a lot of fun, and we have some good roads here so that makes it even better. Also, I really want a Prelude...

an abarth meet sounds pretty cool actually, to see a bunch of them together would be kinda neat.

Preludes are awesome. I highly recommend one! /nobias

What's funny about it is that we alway advertise our meets for all Fiats, but usually only Abarths show up (with maybe 1 or 2 modified regular 500's). I guess it really is an enthusiast model.

My friend's older sister had a Prelude in high school - it must have been a 1998 or 1999. She used to take us home from school sometimes. I've liked them ever since then. Someday I'll have one!

Minus points for the detachable steering wheel, plus points for the sticker.

Aside from that, always a good thing to see women into cars.

Well, if youre in the states, the fiats in general are rather rare to come by (i think. at least i never see any). Plus the people who go to the meets are enthusiasts anyways otherwise they probably wouldnt know about the meets. But thats why i like these groups, we all truly care about our specific cars.

Why is that i know of more girls who have had a prelude than guys.... It really was/is a girls car! 1997-2001 was the last generation which is what i have.

If youre willing to get a little higher mileage example, you can find decent ones around 3K-4k. And then you can join us at prelude meets! haha.

haha yeah, our meet was solely dependent on whether or not the 'gubment was gonna open.

I don't really think of the Prelude as a girl's car (even though I'm a girl). Most of the people I see around here with clean ones are guys around 30ish.

What about RHD? If they sold them in Japan maybe I could get one from there. That way I could get low miles and something unique!

Kinja'd!!! MountainCommand > Ferrero1911

I try not to count guys i meet from the internet as people who own preludes. But people ive met and talked to in life, more girls have mentioned having one or had a friend with one. Not to say that guys dont have them tho, But you still reinforce this being a car that girls like haha.

Its funny you throw that number out. The original owner of my car was in his late 30's. i kid you not.

RHD... Its a forbidden fruit, with preludes at least. Remember that 25 year old import law? Preludes arent exempt. I looked into that too... You can do a RHD swap tho! You can still find low mileage ones though, i got mine with 64K on the clock.

I guess I'll have to wait until they're 25 years old then. Preludes are one of those cars that I have to avoid looking at ads for. I'm afraid I'll end up buying one on a whim.

If you get to drive one, really drive one, youll understand why its definitely worth keeping it open as an option whenever you can find/afford one.
