WRX STI 5-door in World Rally Blue, with gold wheels... good right?
Well, perhaps then a more practical choice could perhaps be at least somewhat acceptable, in so much as it is possible...
A 2010 Tribeca in Azurite Blue, but adding on bronze wheels... (and probably charcoal gray on the grille slats on the front to darken those down. minimal bright work.)
Maybe that design, maybe something else... maybe Mustang fan blades, or WRX STI fat-fives, re-finished bronze, like the pictured Work Meister wheels....
But I am thinking that the Azurite Blue Pearl with the bronze wheels would look kind of like WRB and Gold, but with the brightness turned way down.
If one needs an SUV/CUV, would this be a jalop-enough option, granting the idea that there is such a thing as a jalop-enough SUV/CUV?
I need it for interior cargo space, not constant passenger use, so the fact that Tribeca isn't the largest CUV on the market is probably OK for me.
And I think I might be able to get it cheap enough to have it paid off in a year or less, and then save for something more fun. And this might be practical enough to be a parts hauler and winter-slogger, so I could consider a motorcycle or RWD toy car, and not have to have it be AWD and brine-drenched. If it turns out to be problematic... the sooner it is paid off, the sooner I can trade for something else, if necessary.
Plus... I would then own not one, but TWO Subaru flat-6 black-sheep cars, simultaneously. And SVX and a Tribeca in the same driveway. BoxerFanatic - Subaru black-sheep iconoclast.

I swear I am not trolling!
This is better, keep it to a flat 4 :)
Can haul, much fun

Buy/drive what you want, and don't worry about what the people on here think. There are cars we don't like, but people are always welcome.
Folks are bitter about the demise of the wagon and rise of the CUV in place of the SUV, but there are real and practical reasons why people get them. If you have reasons that are real and practical that require you to get one, then so it is. I personally think a giant truck car you can't really take off road is silly in concept and execution, with some being more sillier than others (X6 Anyone?), but it's your monies you're spending, so fuck me and my opinion then.

My advice would be to do whatever makes it look clean and original. Sometimes one cars' style doesn't translate well to another even if it is the same brand. However, my main advice is just do whatever you think looks sweet, it's your car and you will be the one enjoying it!
If you are concerned about making an SUV look cool, it is definitely possible. Look up the "Moogaru" from Mighty Car Mods for an example.

Most Jalop SUV/CUV?
Older Explorer with a stick. Almost bought one. Glad I didn't. After we sold it it came back with a busticated transmission. Not that my test drive had anything to do with it....

Nice. Looks so much better than the bland stock wheels, both in color and design.
I like the rally flaps as well.
I think I would leave it stock height, though. My lowered Legacy GT has been hammered by bad roads. Suspension travel is a friend that I need to invite back, not shut out.
I am thinking it might need plasti-dip or a vinyl wrap, or something, on the chrome door handles. I have been thinking body color blue on the chrome bar at the top of the grille, and then dark gray grille slats below that.
I am not sure I would be bold enough to do it... but baking the headlights, disassembling them, and painting the housings black would be a nice touch, too. More like the 2005-06 Legacy GT headlights, and 08-10 WRX and STI... before they all went chrome-y.

baking headlights is scary, I've yet to try it. plastidipping the handles, can't go wrong there!

Foresters do have a bit easier time getting modded to look good, and they look a little more rectangular anyway.
I have been looking for Foresters for some time... but to get a 5-speed I would have to give up a lot of power and amenities. With a Tribeca, I give up the stick, but keep most of the power and amenities.
Mostly, if I do go with the Tribeca, which isn't anything set in concrete yet...
I just want to take some of the bland-ness off, and give it ever so slight of an edge, mostly visual. The stock Tribeca wheels are either too tall. 20" optional wheels looks OK with the body, but the tires are too thin, and probably ride too rough. Tribeca's 18" base wheels are mind-numbingly boring..

I am just kind of getting some commentary on a styling modification.
I haven't even yet committed to buying the Tribeca, it is just one of the vehicles around that I am considering.
Nobody is going to make the purchasing decision for me, I just thought I'd get the general reaction to trying to spice up a vehicle that is a tad bit bland, with some bronze wheels, and the Subaru color scheme reasoning behind the bronze...

Agreed.
The previous owner did it to my current Legacy... the lights have stayed dry, but the paint job inside isn't absolutely perfect, but not bad. I do like the 'dark eye' look of black-trimmed headlight housings, though.
I would be hesitant to try it... but maybe a spare set of headlights sent to someone with experience and proven results, with a little cash... then re-selling the original chromies afterward... I could probably do that.

Also... btw
I don't do much off-roading, but Tribeca's Variable Torque Distribution system is basically WRX STI's "auto" center diff mode, and one of the best AWD systems on the market. Granted it isn't locked, or low range.
And it has more ground clearance than my current 2 Subarus do.
I also have my eye on a 2010 Pathfinder LE with 3-mode 4WD... but it is heavier, thirstier, gray, and listed about 4K$ more right off the bat, but with fewer miles on the clock.
