I'll be honest, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! is my winter, summer, spring and fall beater. I inherited from my parents when my dad passed away 3 years ago. For what it is...it's actually not that bad of a car. It has the DOHC engine, not sure how many hp it has, but you have to bury the gas pedal to get it to merge on the highway
My folks ordered it brand new and checked off every single option with the exception of fog light. It only has 70k miles on it and with snow tires...it goes surprisingly well. We plan to keep it even after we buy a new car sometime in the next year or so.
I haven't had a car payment for nearly 15 years...been driving a steady stream of beaters, my wife and I just finished helping send our kids through college, all our other bills are paid......that 2015 Mustang sure looks good.
Shopping for a new car is gonna be fun.

decent car, if a bit small. My wife had one for about 8 years, never had a major problem with it, except that I was uncomfortable on long trips, so we usually took a bigger car on the long rides.

I don't have a pic of mine, (and it's dark out now) but my winter beater is also an SL2. 2001, to be precise, cranberry colored.
It was a free hand me down to my wife from her father, before we got married. I never, EVER thought I'd keep it this long, but here we are 7 years later, and it's still going. Our family car is a 2008 Outback, and I have an AP1 Honda S2000, but the Saturn soldiers on as a great beater car.

We also have a 2008 Subaru Outback that my wife drives. It's the car we take if we go out together or go on trips. The Saturn sits to low and it is cramped like you mentioned. But, it's hard to turn down a free car :-)

Yeah she moved up from that SL2 to an '08 Passat Wagon when we had our 2nd kid. Considered the Outback but I wasn't comfortable.
