Working with Dell Enterprise tech support is seriously making be reevaluate my career choice... I think I'm going to flip burgers for the rest of my life just so I can avoid contacting them again. FML

i turned wrenches for the longest time. Just me all alone working in my corner or set of bays. Only thing i talked to was various bolts that wouldn't come off or the computer/printer when they froze. Now im working in the parts department. For the first time ever im behind a dagum computer and interacting with humans. It's hell

That was my first job out of college back in 05, hated it so much left after 6 months. Their hiring policies suck, I wouldn't call Dell Tech either, hated Dell so much that I sold all the Dell crap at home immediately after.

I'm trying to get a tech out to one of our remote location to service two of our servers and it's like pulling fucking teeth. We have a service contract, but they continue to mess me around. It makes me want to kick a fucking puppy..

lol, no I'm currently in Manhattan(work location, not house) . I don't work for dell, they're just a service provider. I unfortunatly I drew the short straw today so I had to deal with them. Wrenching is what I use to get away from everything, and so I don't know if I'd enjoy having to work on cars on somebody elses timeline. My plan is to open a bar or something along those lines in the next 5-10 years depending on funds.

Edit: I did however only come to that conclustion after thinking long and hard about it. While I was installing new wiring harnesses for my spot lights and building bush wires for my truck.

I've learned to first make sure every devices firmware is up to date, as well as the bios before even contacting them. They won't help you until thats done. It helps to have the latest open manage, and any log errors open as well.

Ah, Dell Tech Support. Enterprise is usually better but still crap. Try getting Dell to give you a quote on an extended warranty for a series of enterprise purchased devices. The people in that department are far from computer savvy.
