My wife's car chewed through it's first set of tires. Got an alignment when I noticed the wear and replaced the fronts after I could see the cords with some tires I had left over from the PT. Then we ordered replacement OEM tires since they were good in the wet and snow and pretty cheap. I brought the car in for an alignment today and they said it is all good.

Makes me wonder if the car left the factory fucked up or if it is going to chew through this set of fronts also.

is this on the taurus with the whacked out springs?

If not the car ever been hit hard?

Have the tires ever been rotated? Usually OEM tires aren't that great anyway, designed just to be cheap (to the automaker, but of course hideously marked up to the customer)

The tires hadn't been rotated. It ate the inside corner of the fronts. If I had rotated them I'd have to replace 4 tires instead of 2.

and they called your alignment good? Did they shake the front end around at all even? Sounds like you got something loose up there if they said it was good

Rotating the tires evens out the wear between all four tires. May have gotten a some more life out of them.

I got an alignment about 6 months ago. I haven't seen any uneven wear since then. I have no reason to believe it needs alignment now other than at 18k miles it had eaten 2 tires. It is at 27k now so I figured it'd be best to get the alignment checked out.

Fair enough. I'm make sure to rotate around oil changes.
