Well, that's why I don't visit/comment on the FP anymore.. Couple of days ago someone responded to a comment I made (one that was several months old) and told me I was a fucking faggot.. Why? I used the word slammed. Naturally I dismissed said comment, but seems to me like the whole FP is going to the dogs..

I rarely go, but I'm a sucker for posting bad jokes. I almost put (this is a joke) at the bottom, but that's just appealing to the lowest common denominator of society. Also, I think I've enraged that guy a few times. Or it's several people.

Oppo is our secret little clubhouse, we only let nice people in. Also, we mostly understand sarcasm, and the few times it's over our heads, it gets resolved pretty quickly.

Someone posted about a Lambo the other day and I said "Pretty sure that's a Veyron Dude" and someone called me retarded, then explained in detail why it was a Lambo.

Now I'll admit it was not the highest form of humor I have spit out here, but I really hate being reprimanded by a 12 year old.

I don't often go to FP, and I never comment there. My least favorite thing is when I comment on an Oppo post and then it gets shared. Then I get notifications "Why did we let the FP trolls into opp.... oh, great. Dismiss."

We know FP has bad comments. We know people are childish. We know people on any site will say stupid things.

How is this still a fucking surprise to anyone? Are you all 12? Do you have some desire to whack off to stupid comments on the front page and display them here?

I think this was an excellent use of the dismiss button. Thank you for using it in this situation.

I generally advise caution when pointing out specific comments / commenters as it could be construed as a call for others to pick on the commenter. However, given that the commenter actually named himself derper, I don't think any amount of attention would be a good thing. Let's make sure we don't feed the trolls.

Duly noted. Between your comment and VS calling me out as well, I guess I've learned to not bring FP shenanigans to OPPO, even though I'm far from the only one doing it (and I've never seen backlash on anyone else.)

I don't want to call you out. And I didn't directly intend to do so. My concern is simply that there is little to gain by giving any attention to the trolls there.

FWIW, the guy is pretty clearly a racist troll burner. And I completely agree with you on this and even on wanting to warn oppo that commenting there could lead to encounters with an even higher chance of encountering them on this article. I'm not saying don't post as you did, I'm just saying be cautious with your approach, sometimes generalizing the situation can help.
