Hmm. Base with MA V6, GT with NA V8, Mach 1 with TT V6?

Considering the Mach 1 killed off the GT back i 1969 and 1970 I sat make the GT a V6 TT and the Mach 1 the NA V8 also the new 5.0L will be making 500HP (Read it in the Jalop Article)

Nah - Ford has put too much time into making the GT a V8 variant. As much as I'd like a twin turbo mill under a Mustang hood the Mach 1 package will probably be just a horsepower bump, decals and aero bits.

Shaker hood return? Maybe make it as bad ass as the BOSS 302 was with its handling? Somethings on my wish list. I just hope the Mach will be a V8....thought....what if it is the BOSS 302 just in disguise under a more bad ass moniker

Oh good call - probably a shaker scoop with matte black hood option. And it very well could replace the Boss 302 title and carry over the same options.

new acronym for ford

F: Forever

O: On

R: Road

D:Dominating

Ya that's what the Mach 1 name will now bring to the table.

I wonder if someone here on Oppo will make up a Mach 1 render for us with the Car and Driver image...

Because the Mach 1 was primarily a drag racing package, I think that it should have a solid rear axle, and they should have a Boss 302 priced in the same area focused on handling. At the very least, it'd be a good look inside what Mustang enthusiasts want out of their cars.

I've never seen a take on the Mach 1 like that. I know people want the Q-Code badly, but the Mach 1 did come with all then engines in 1969-73 and either had the FMX or the C6 and even then the Mach was mainly like the go between the Shelby GT350-500 and the Regular Mustang GT or BOSS. It was the middle child.

To the best of my knowledge, it was never really tuned for handling, but they had the full range of engine options, going all the way up to the 427 Cobra Jet. The Shelbys by that point were luxo-barges, and were generally focused on being supercars, which was why they were cancelled after 1970. So yes, it was the middle child, so handling improvements weren't on the map. Power improvements were much easier, so drag racing it was.

I guess but when you look at it in a way, the 390Ci was the perfect engine for the car and some did combine the boss into it as well. we need to have them Track fight now....SOMEONE GET A '69 Mach 1 and '69 BOSS out onto the track!
