Can Someone Explain To Me What's Going On Here?

I have a 2000 Sentra SE, manual. It has about 169,000 miles and as far as I know, the clutch doesn't seem to have ever been replaced.

As demonstrated in the video, I first shift from first to second, then to third. On the first shift, you can see it catches at 5k and stays there for a bit then dips below and then continue up (I don't remember if I influenced that) until the second shift where it basically stays at 5k until I have to let go of the gas for it to catch somewhere. I don't think that's supposed to happen. Isn't it supposed to hook right away?

I do have worn out tires but there wasn't any wheel spin. There also wasn't any smell of burning clutch and it drove perfect after.

I am letting go of the clutch pedal fairly quickly and I do get on the accelerator as soon as my foot is off the clutch pedal. Am I overwhelming the transmission? If I were to do everything just a little bit slower (which means the revs will drop a little bit farther) it will catch fine and pull strong.

I guess it's my clutch slipping. But other than this, there are absolutely no signs of slippage anywhere. It pulls pretty hard through fourth and fifth. I have not seen this happen in other cars so that's why I assume it's a slipping clutch.

Try a second or third gear pull from low revs (eg highway merge), that's when you'll notice mucho slipping, if that's what it is. 160k+ miles is plenty enough to kill a clutch, especially if you wind it out like that frequently.

Clutch slip, for sure.

Agreed clutch slip. And not uncommon to get around 150k miles from the sentra setup. Once it starts going will likely be a some what quick decline so start planning on having it repaired soon. Should run anywhere between 400-700 depending on the area you live. Parts are about 100-150 so mostly labor. Not the easiest diy project but can be done and believe you'll find many guides/videos of the process if your brave enough.

Definitely clutch slippage.

I did that earlier today from second to redline, nothing out of the ordinary happened! Shifted to third and it hooked right away!

absolutely no increase in revs without an appropriate increase in speed? If you hammer down in second, then let off quickly, the revs don't drop ~500-1000 while the speed stays constant? Man, I'm clueless. It almost sounds like the clutch is BEGINNING to go, since it apparently only acts wonky at high load changes (aka when shifting), even thought it's not all the time.

Nope everything was proportional. And if I were to do that the speed would decrease and the revs wouldn't drop that fast. It could be that at high load change.
