Oh its two millimeter wider. So it must be 500 bucks right. WRONG! This little baby is 1500 dollars.

Wow thats tiny! Is there just one, or are there more?

this one is a whole 3 millimeters bigger and you save $300

Does it come with a re-mapping for the fuel distribution?
![]() 10/27/2013 at 23:32 |

There's two. The 140HP engines get 4.

Vas is das?
![]() 10/27/2013 at 23:35 |

Can you tap a manometer into the intake manifold? The difference in pressure drop may be insignificant unless you're doing a whole lot of other shit to the engine.
![]() 10/27/2013 at 23:36 |

...and it probably cause almost no gains with out a significant amount of other mods to the motor.... or if it does it will be at the sacrifice of low end (cruising) throttle precision.
![]() 10/27/2013 at 23:38 |

Fun fact: The automatic version of my car had a slightly larger bore to make up for the reduced responsiveness from the transmission. It's one of the cheapest mods you can do on a Neon, you just need to find an automatic one in the junkyard. The wider throttle body will bolt right onto an MTX car and give you an extra 5 or so horsepower.

haw haw haw
here is my SBTB + plenum that I picked up for 400 with 6000 miles on it. I think brand new the SBTB alone is 400
what size is the stock TB on a toyobaru? The one in the pic looks pretty tiny

65mm
![]() 10/27/2013 at 23:50 |

so this company is selling a 67mm for 1500 dollars? You can buy a crown victoria for that price...
Talk about not worth it at all
![]() 10/27/2013 at 23:52 |
|
Nope, you have to buy that separately. So add another 6 to 800 on top of that.
![]() 10/27/2013 at 23:53 |

Interesting, but 1200 dollars is still a bit steep. I wonder how much ITBs would be, I imagine too expensive.
![]() 10/27/2013 at 23:54 |

Man, a whole 140hp! Can you switch out the carbs on the higher model onto the older one?
![]() 10/27/2013 at 23:56 |

No kidding, the only thing I can recommend is that Cusco does make some good parts. Hopefully other things should be around in the future. Plus I like the shinyness of your supercharger/TB. It looks awesome.
![]() 10/27/2013 at 23:57 |
|
Plus you need to retune it to actually take advantage of the mod, otherwise it won't do much.
![]() 10/27/2013 at 23:57 |

I think Toyota kind of screwed over the auto version of this car. The gearing makes it slower, it is heavier, and everything is virtually
![]() 10/27/2013 at 23:58 |

Same carbs, different heads and such. Mine's a '62-'63 80hp
![]() 10/27/2013 at 23:59 |

TB's on a N/A car are virtually pointless, most times they are not a bottleneck. You'll get snappier throttle response but thats about it. Since you have drive by wire, I'm not sure if that would even happen. I guess if the ratio inside the TB is a quicker ratio over stock, the electric motor would turn it faster, so it would give the same effect, but I've never owned a drive by wire car let alone swapped a TB on one.
![]() 10/28/2013 at 00:07 |

This is pretty much true. Any intake mod will do very little. All I am going to do is get a 50 dollar drop in filter, and maybe add a bigger snorkle. . . because why not(can't do harm can it)? Both are still cheaper than buying a full intake. I honestly don't know how throttle by wire would work other than what you said in your post.
![]() 10/28/2013 at 00:08 |

That sucks, I guess there is only one other option for more power. . . LS swap. Also what car is it?

I should have guessed, I saw the boxer and went "beetle" then I realized that the Beetle never made more than 40 hp. Btw, nice car. I love these things, and how unsafe are they?

Safer than most of their age.

is that the blower and intake for a terminator cobra? /drool

Corvair.

I had a quick look, I couldn't find any of the FA20 but there is this EJ20 one for comparison:
Tomei Quad Throttle Body
... $4700~
![]() 10/28/2013 at 00:33 |
|
it was for a terminator, now its on my marauder
the blower only had 1000 miles on it, and the SBTB/plenum 6000. I got both of them for really good deals.
![]() 10/28/2013 at 00:33 |

That sounds fracking good! 9100 rpm and still with pushrods! Amazing!
![]() 10/28/2013 at 00:34 |

eh I'm sure there's plenty of people out there with boosted BRZ/86's who'd think this is reasonable. especially in the Drifting scene.
![]() 10/28/2013 at 00:36 |
|
When you throw boost at it, its a little different, but I know the OP's car is stock or close to stock. On a N/A car its totally pointless.
Even still, I'm sure on a low boost kit that TB isn't a major restriction. 1500 for a throttle body is a LOT. My supercharger didn't even cost me that much!
![]() 10/28/2013 at 00:39 |

Nice. now that the coyote motor is out, the top ends of terminators are a lot more affordable. And that makes it a Mauler, now, right?
Marquis - 4.6 2V
Marauder - 4.6 4V
Mauler - S/C 4.6 4V
![]() 10/28/2013 at 00:41 |
|
I have never heard anyone call it a Mauler lol
Prices on terminator eaton stuff has actually gone up a lot. They only made those cars for 2 years, and now that eaton swaps are popular with marauders, mach 1's, and N/A cobras, let alone 4v GT swap cars, and even people using the M112's on tork tech 2v cars, its getting harder to find parts and the prices on whats left keeps going up. I got my blower for 440 shipped, and now 400 on average will get you a blower with 30-50k miles on it. Ported blowers are like 800 bucks usually.
![]() 10/28/2013 at 00:43 |

lol. That might be a South Louisiana thing then.
![]() 10/28/2013 at 01:03 |

We can only hope for OP's sake that the newest WRX also uses the FA20, at the moment it's just the Toyobaru twins, Forester and JDM only Legacy GT that use them. Cheapest I've seen a S/C kit for the BRZ/86 is $3300 including brackets and gaskets etc.
![]() 10/28/2013 at 01:04 |
|
thats not a bad price, although I was never big on S/C 4 bangers, seems like it doesn't do to much.
![]() 10/28/2013 at 01:22 |
|
they don't need a whole lot extra power, I think their sweet spot would be about 50% extra, any more than that and you wouldn't be able to use any of the extra power on the street. Most S/C kits seem capable of that on stock internals.
![]() 10/28/2013 at 09:36 |
|
Looks like you need 6 of them.

Chevy was working on this when the edict to abandon the Corvair to work on the Camaro was sent down:
![]() 10/28/2013 at 10:25 |

Boooo they had a chance to build a 911/cayman fighter. A chance to make their brand more than just american muscle by brute force in a straight line.
![]() 10/28/2013 at 10:30 |
|
The Camaro was cheaper to make, had a V8, and the UAW was happy because it required more people to make.
![]() 10/28/2013 at 10:37 |

Oh I am sure. Just a what if moment.
Like if Ford didn't kill the SVO program and built a turbo focus a few(30) years earlier(in the US). They would own the hot hatch department. And they could use the DOHC n/a tech to build a miata fighter before miatas even took over.
Which makes me want to drop a duratec 2.3 in a foxbody. Same philosophy as the guy who dropped the ford indy motor in the martini fastback mustang. Except less everything haha.
