This is where my model is, both in the progression of its build and physical location. I've royally (I really cannot stress how royally) futzed ALL of my painting, so I'm taking the easy route and making this into an unpainted pre-season test chassis. I'm not happy about it.

This looks awesome, are the mechanical components functional?

Put all the body panels with bad paint into a large Ziploc bag and spray in copious quantities of EZ-Off Oven Cleaner in the bag.
Seal the bag for 24 hours and most/if not all your paint will be softened and will rinse off (use hot water) the plastic without damaging the plastic.

Thanks, man. I've been looking for ways to remove paint from models.
I'll try this.

Thanks. By mechanical components do you mean suspension? Because that's fixed. That's just the nature of the real car's suspension.
Excepting that, the wheels steer and roll.
Who needs sway bars anyway

Yeah, depending on the paint you used there a ton of ways to remove it and start again, I've had to do that with a couple of models and it was totally worth it. At the very worst you could always send it this way and I could finish her for ya lol

I've personally done this with styrene models in the past...I was skeptical at first, thinking that the oven cleaner would just eat the plastic, but it doesn't affect it at all. Just be careful when you rinse the model-use warm soapy water and make sure you get *all* the oven cleaner off.

When you redo the paint job, use your foil to do your initial color separation, you can use regular masking tape for the rest of the masking. Also-remove the masking before the paint is completely dry.
