Video forthcoming. My brilliant idea to mount the GoPro to the wind blocker wasn't go brilliant after all. It shakes like dat ass in a rap music video. Question for the Oppoites: What is a good site for upload videos besides YouTube?

There are a few other views, but no in-car stuff. I'm pretty sure you'll live :)

EDIT: It really gave me a new respect for the engineering that goes into a car: ANY CAR. There was one guy in an Impreza STi who also was having his first track day, and he was having a bit of a problem keeping up with me. He even said so, and pointed to his front right tire as proof: It was bald by the end of the day (AMP runs anti-clockwise). I know that STi had more to give. I hope he learns to unlock it!

I also now want an E46 M3. I do not care how many banks I must rob, people I must kill, I *WILL* have one of those. Because some track days are non-convertible friendly.

And when two of the instructors make the point by asking if I've had track experience before, they were honestly surprised to hear "No." as the answer.

I'm currently screening the raw footage, and I have some from another friend who was driving his WRX.

AMP: Atlanta Motorsports Park?

VIMEO works for uploading videos, although you have to wait 45 minutes or so before you can share them unless you pay a fee.

Sounds like the Impreza guy needs to get some Hoosiers for the track day, bro.

Yes, Atlanta Motorsports Park. There was a track day event, so I signed up.

I'll see if Vimeo would be better since all my footage is in HD.

He also needs to practice not murdering the front tires. Chucking the car in and letting the AWD sort everything out *works*, but is known to cause pre-mature front tire wear.

But when you have a set of Michelin Pilot Super Sports on your Z4...

Miata? (I assume so because you make mention of convertibles)

I recently went on my first track day as well, made me realize I really need to get a gopro, but then I realized that I also needed new tires and brakes.

BMW Z4.

There were more Miatas and RX-8s than most other types of car. There were a contingent of Imprezas and M3s, along with a 330i (I rode in that), and a few Nissan Z cars.

There was one GT-R. And the Exoskeleton cars. Those are fun (I did a ride along in one).

Yes better for HD, worse for impatient folks like myself. If you do another track day, post in advance. I live in Canton and have spectated there a few times. I look forward to your video(s).

I use Vimeo. I like it better than Youtube, but like others have pointed out, there is a 30-45 minute wait.

Looking forward to seeing the video. Sounds like you had a great track day.

My biggest fear of going to a track day is breaking something, once I over come that I will probably do it once or twice a year. They are fairly expensive.

Most likely, you will boil your brake fluid and shred your tires. Because that's what happened to a few people in the novice group. My fluid started to boil, and the STi wore his front right tire down to the wear bars.

That's about it, honestly. Unless you spin off the track or meet Mr. Tire Wall

See, this is why you need a headrest mount like the cruise cam. I'm glad to let you learn this on your own. =) Unrelated: I have good advice on canopy anchors, 12v compressors, painter's tape, glass cleaner and gps devices. Welcome to the obsession.

It's a great idea, but...

Kinja'd!!!

And here's the seat (Mine are red leather, but the seat shape is the same):

Kinja'd!!!

I don't think I can engineer around that... I might have to go to an adhesive mount for those shots.

You might be (read: are) right. I sometimes forget that not all bmw headrests are created with equal post gaps. My bad. The rest of my comment stands. Let me know if you need any logistics suggestions. I'm getting it down to a science!
