Any good plans? Got some night shenanigans planned but still need to catch up on F1, way behind, still have to watch from Italian GP on.

I played catchup last week. Now finally getting through Japan. There's some good stuff in there.

The first half of the Italian GP that I watched was pretty good. I heard that as a fan of Hulkenberg I'll enjoy a lot of it. How's the DRS been in the races? Overpowered?

I'm gonna be inhaling solvent, by which I mean hitting some primer on bottom halves of Land-Rover doors and prepping them and a hood for POR-15. I will also be teaching a younger brother how to drive stick with a Benz 240d, so there's that.

"inhaling solvent"
That should be a fun day teaching. Try not to brown the seats!

Italy was great racing. I like DRS on the shorter straights, but it may have felt overpowered in Korea. Don't have an opinion on Suzuka yet.

I like the theory behind DRS, hate the double DRS they've gone to this year though. It's nice when it's subtle, short straights are ideal for it.

POR-15 goes directly over rusty metal. It is recomended that you use their etching stuff first. I just coated the replacement bed floor of my Scout with this and its good stuff.

So you're saying I should ingest as much rust dust as possible to prevent that?

I agree. But if you can leave a corner late and still gain a huge amount of speed on a longer straight, it's definitely annoying.

Yep - I have their etching stuff and will be using it. There's just something I want to prime first (aluminum being assembled *with* steel) because it won't be treated with POR15 itself and will be otherwise inaccessible. Should have made that more clear.

Won't hurt...?

I hate when they put it on the longest straight and the immediate straight after. Or on the longest straight in general, the cars can slipstream just fine there.

Yeah, totally. I like F1, but I have had to resort to calling it a game of strategy instead of real racing action. I hate it when they can't race flat out because they're trying to do a two-stop. But, I still enjoy it quite a bit. Not as much as rally...

I like the tires when they can push them flat out for a few laps, then they go off and you see the cars being a handful but still putting down competitive times, showing off which drivers have the best skill. The worst is when you have a driver being forced to drive seconds off pace just to hit a predetermined lap to pit on.
I love rally but hate the rally coverage. I feel like in todays day and age it is incredibly outdated. A few seasons ago they broadcast the entire French rally live, uncut, online. Just nonstop extended rally action from the helicopters, in car, trail side cuts, it was amazing. They were just testing the technology and reception but I would totally pay WRC.com a good $50 a season to get that. It was truly spectacular and did more justice than the wrap up shows they currently do.

No worries. Its a great coating. Its like a paint-on powdercoat that isnt UV resistant.

Completely agreed! I'm always trying to find gray market uploads of rallies, cause I sure can't get any on TV (don't have one anyway) or on a livestream. I would pay $50/season as well to access all the races. My new favorite thing to find is BTCC. Good races in there, and the full races exist on YouTube. Season just wrapped up with a nice rainy race.

Really good racing is Japanese Super GT but it's a pain in the ass to find and it has Japanese commentary only, which while highly entertaining, doesn't tell you exactly what's going on. You can get the general gist though. The racing itself is phenomenal and the grid has such cool cars on it. The only gimmick they use is a ballast system which sounds really unfair but it works out really well. It's fun to watch.

I'll give this a shot.
