It's friday evening and I can't even get muntered because I've been hired as a designated driver for a group of people for tonight (yup, they're paying). I have to wait up all sober for them to call me up. How about you help me fight the boredom with a quick and very easy game of guess the car?
I think you should be able to guess this very, very quickly.
As always, no reverse GIS is allowed.
HINT 1
It comes from central Europe.
HINT 2
Older versions of this car have been featured on Top Gear on at least 2 separate occassions. It's also made an appearance in one of Clarkson's early DVDs.
HINT 3
It can be classified as a compact car (albeit one of the larger ones). You could buy it as a hatchback, a saloon, an estate, or a pickup.
My hovercraft is full of eels guessed it. It's a Daewoo-FSO Polonez (Caro/Atu/Truck) Plus.

I can't figure out the car, but it looks European and early 90sish to me. Props to you for stepping up and being a designated driver for your friends. :)
I used to do that quite a bit when I lived in a more metropolitan area. I always got free soda, and sometimes I'd get free appetizers.

I reverse-GIS'd it. I doubt (read: hope, since it's an awful car) anyone's going to get this one.

Actually, they're my friend's family. I've helped them with transport during their wedding photos one day, and they asked if I could pick them up from a party their friends are throwing for them. Since I'm one of those forever alone types I decided to at least be helpful. ;)

I have faith in Oppo. If you people can't guess it, nobody can.

That's a pretty wrong something.

I'm pretty sure there aren't enough Europeans here for anyone to recognize it since it was sold under a different badge in the US (or at least so I recall, I can't even be assed to Google it since it's such a boring car).

Actually, I don't think it ever made it to the US. Still, I'm going to start providing tips soon. That should help.

Wrong country, think outside the box on this one.

I'm going to guess that it's an Opel of some variety. A very decontented one, with hand cranked windows and no radio(!) possibly a van or MPV of some sort, judging by the shifter being up so high and towards the middle of the dash.
I'm thinking possibly German vehicle of some sort. Doesn't look French to me.

You're thinking about sort of rightish area of the world, but it's way shittier than an Opel.

Some kind of 90's Skoda? Maybe it's that pickup version, that I can't remember the name of.

Taking a shot purely based off most of the hints, I'll say Yugo GV Plus? Although I don't think those even came with floormats....

Nah. It's quite a bit larger than a Yugo.

Late FSO Polonez. Was hard to crack. The wheel and those switches to the left reminded me of my parents' VW-engined Watrburg, but the center console and the instrument panel were not familiar.

You sir are correct! It's a Daewoo-FSO Polonez (Caro/Atu/Truck) Plus.

I would have never, ever in a billion years been able to guess this. At least I was in the somewhat correct region of the world.
