I hooked up a battery, turned the key, and the starter turned the engine. I'm semi on track for getting her running this weekend. Now if only the power steering pump and TV adapter brackets weren't giving me pain. Anyone know how to remove a power steering pulley?

Just punch it until it moves

Pull it off with a pulley puller.

Before I read the body of the post I thought you'd accidentally flipped her over while doing some hard cornering. Phew.

That would've been some story though, amirite?

For most GM PS pulleys you need a special tool. Probably available at a local Auto Zone or whatever you have, to rent. Makes the job an easy task. And you get your rent money back when you return it. Good luck.

I've never rebuilt an engine with my bare hands, but it surely must be very satisfying to see her start up on the first try.

This may seem childish, but I'm really looking forward to the part when you put on the stickers.

She didn't have a distributor in so there was no running, but she did move. I plan to try on getting her to start tomorrow or saturday.

I misread, you just turned it over. Well, that's still satisfying and obviously good news for your rebuild.

btw, whats the condition of the exhaust system? Any plans? That motor doesn't need much at all to sound good.

GL with the rest of your reboot!

Non existent, I have to take the car to the shop and get my parts welded together. For the car I have: long tube headers, exhaust cutouts (for when I am at a strip or showing off), Flowmaster Super 40 mufflers. They will all be strung together with 2.5" pipe.
