When I was a kid in north Jersey, we called the night before Halloween "Cabbage Night." I don't know why and since I was a kid, I never realized it was a regional thing until we moved away and I began to hear "Mischief Night." Now, another New Jerseyan told me he used to call it "Goose" or even "Goosey Night" which is even sillier than Cabbage Night. Anyone else have a weird name for the night of toilet paper and shaving cream?

Never heard it called 'cabbage night' until last week's Last Man Standing episode...

We called it Devil's Night in Detroit. See my vintage 1985 T-shirt.

And before anyone asks, this is what all that stuff turned into:

In the Chicago suburbs, we called it Hell Night, similar to Dukie's Devil's Night. Basically a night for hell raising and general mischief. It always seemed to be more of a northern Midwest thing. There's nothing like it in Austin, afaik.
