My little company loves the Boeing (McDonnell Douglas) T tail family. Last week we added the 717. We now operate DC-9, MD-80, MD-90 and 717. Here is a family photo. For those interested, the DC-9s go away around the end of the year.

I've spent a lot of time in the Mad Dog. I will not miss it.

Loud, dirty, small. What's there to miss?

We call it The Delta Difference.
Gracias por elegir Delta. (Damnit, Richard's subtitles are teaching me Spanish again...)

The sheer utter ruggedness that McDonnell-Douglas built into those planes, that's what I'll miss. I'm not much of a Delta flyer but I've put a LOT of miles on American's MD80s. The pilots liked and respected those planes for their toughness and that's good enough for me....

Isn't the 717 basically a DC-9 with a "Boeing-er" nose?

Caught the "new" 717's while they where still being serviced at FlightStar. Saw a single test flight head out, always cool to see an empty plane go up.

Love those upper windscreens. I forgot how fond of T-tails I was

The family all uses the same nose. The difference is in the engines, systems, Fuselage length and wings vary. The 90 is the biggest of all of them. The 717 is smaller than the 90 and the most fuel efficient.

Have you guys started hiring pilots yet this year?

Yes sir, the P3 squadrons do touch-and-gos out there as well as the NAS.

I believe so. I've been to recruiting events where they were talking to pilot candidates. Not my part of the world though.

Hopefully part of mine sometime soon. Thanks for the heads up.
