But I have always had a seriously unhealthy amount of want for the early 90's Astons...

It's the current Mustang's grizzled old Irish Stout guzzling uncle.

I like them as well. The V8 Vantage Le Mans was just too cool.

I actually like that styling better than the current ones.

Saw one of those in person at the Greenwich CT Concours this year. At first glance I thought it was some rebodied S13/S14.

I love'm too. The Virage and DB7 were sexy.

The problem was that they were transitional period cars, from the "British Mustang" of the V8 Vantage,

Kinja'd!!!

To the super-sleek and aerodynamic Vanquish.

Kinja'd!!!

So they were still roaring muscle beasts (The Vantage. 600HP. What the fuck.) that were being garbed in faux refinement and aerodynamics, before they really got sorted out. This is obvious in the body design, and by the DB7 came around, they had really figured it out. That car is beautiful.

One of my sincere wishes is that Aston Martin had taken a new direction with the DB9, and make it a 650HP GT car that went 220mph instead of toning it down compared to some of the Astons of the 90s, but the 6l V12 left a lot to be desired for power output (they doubled a cheap 250HP engine and put tons of money in it, yet only got 450HP?!) Thankfully, the One-77 cured all of our fears about that, using the same engine to much greater effect.

At least, if what I know is true, that 6l V12 is based off of the Duratech engine, which is what made it possible to take it up to the 7.3l One-77 engine (the Duratech V6 can go up to 3.7l) and made 750HP, the most powerful N/A production engine.

The beauty of them being notoriously British means that the ones still standing are all owned by collectors who keep them well maintained.

They are so very sexy in the flesh, brute looking but still so refined.

Any and all Astons are disgustingly desirable. Yes, even the Lagonda. Ok, fine, not the Cygnet.

Look at the price of this one! You can get a 2006 V12 DB9 for that price:

I desire a Cygnet for the sheer absurdity.

No not the Lagonda. It should be lost and forgotten.

Balderdash. If you're telling me you wouldn't drive the hell out of a Lagonda and feel like a boss doing it, you're either lying or you have no soul. No offense.

It would be fun to roll up to a car show or drag strip in a Cygnet. But it's not desirable in the way that every other Aston is desirable.
