I don't know...but I like to keep my power levels low enough to stay under the hood.

Hmm.. A tad more than overkill... THAT's how much power ANY car should have.. :)

"How Much Power Should A Miata Have?"

Top left car is more of an "Animal".

Over 9000 HP so that Vegeta and Nappa shows up out of thin air and say this.

Enough so you can still roast tires in high gear at the end of the Mulsanne straight

Tires made of ABS plastic... problem solved.

I'd say no more than 250hp to keep the car fairly well balanced. It's enough to launch like a bat out of hell in any gear but not enough to overwhelm the car at more sane speeds.

All of it.

I'd say 275hp/275ft-lbs would be satisfactory.

Sounds good. For a stock Miata :)

250-350 preferably from a turbocharged or supercharged 4-banger

hmmm... I'd say 210hp/235ft-lb
but, not a peaky turbo engine.
smooth power curve, from an N/A or an S/C

Just enough.

Honestly Depending on how familiar you are with the driving characteristics of the vehicle around 300hp would tops on one. Speaking of which, 3.7L v6's from mustangs are said to fit like a glove. High revving powerful v6? Check... 6 speed jesus shift? check... Sign me up. Oh and a tbird diff as the miata one will get shredded.
