This is an impressive ad. From the point where the seller admits that E30s are awesome to the point where he includes every single problem he can think of. The damage isn't too bad, either. Sure it affects a lot of parts, but the majority of those parts are non-essential. I'm just not so sure the price is right, even though I can't buy it regardless.

The kind of ad we want to see isn't actually a particularly good way to sell a car - not if you want to get a really good price, anyway. In purely financial terms, the person you want to sell to is not the really educated gearhead who knows exactly what the car's worth, what the problems cost to fix, and so-on, but the hopeless romantic who hasn't a clue. Talking about work you've done may put the romantics off when they realise the work involved, and that kind of thing.

Excellent. Polite honesty is always best. He'll get what he's looking for. It might be $1600, but he knows that...
