this time it is the engine harness. The PO never fully removed the useless original Turbo'd ECU'd engine harness bits. Now I have to go around and clean everything up.

Good name for a car. I think I will name my Z car Emma. My TL's name is Elly. Emma and Elly. I think that works.

Here's the latest build thread: http://oppositelock.jalopnik.com/tag/emma And here's my old old review: http://oppositelock.jalopnik.com/hey-frost-my-t…
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
This is my first car, I bought it when I was 16 and I am now 17. I have done so much work to her. I've redone all the underdash vacuum lines and some wiring, restored the interior, I've rebuilt her engine, and I am in the process of getting the rebuilt engine running. After it runs, she goes off to paint.

Oh, transam! Me like! That's a sweet ride for a 17 yr old man.
Reading up on the review right now.
I don't want to sound old and shit, but ... i'm gonna sound old and shit. Promise you will be careful yeah? That's a lot of car.

It's a Malaise Era (model years 1973-1983, due to the oil crisis and rising emissions regulations) Muscle car, they had 200-ish horsepower at best, so I wouldn't worry that much.
The handling isn't exactly fantastic on an F-body of that vintage though, I'll give you that, but it's underpowered so at least it won't hit anything with any considerable speed).

Considering all we can drive (or rather ride) at 16 is a 49cc moped limited to 45kph, i would say that 200 hp is quite a LOT for a 16-17 yr old. My first real car was a diesel van (opel zafira, dreadful thing), and it had something like 130 hp ... of which at least thirty died in the great oil famine of 2003.

Thanks! Lot of car? Ha! The from the factory the Chevy motor that I pulled out of it made 175hp and the Trans Am is quite heavy. I was too afraid to take it to a drag strip because I am pretty sure I would be beaten by a Prius. I'm hoping the Pontiac 400 I just built makes around 300-350 hp. Also, the review sucks - I wrote it at midnight many months ago.

I was talking in reference to what most 16 yr olds around the world get to drive ... aka a moped.

I'd agree with that. My parents told me "You are buying your car with your money, and you have to pay for all parts, gas, etc yourself. Thus you can get anything you want withing reason." Sadly, she has spent half of her life with me in our shop undergoing upgrades and repairs.

I know the feeling. My speedster has been in pieces for a while now, and lots more to be done.
However, i was talking about the laws. Not many countries let 16 yr olds drive a car.

Ahh, didn't catch that. Do you have a pic of the speedster?

Well, I'm 18 and my first car also has 200 horsepower (and is a bit lighter than Bandit's car as well). I've pushed it a few times but other than the awesome mid-range power it's got it feels quite pedestrian (I guess it might be due to the awful low-range power due to 1980s turbo lag).

OMG celica gt-4 ... awd niceness. Of course it's not going to misbehave with AWD and 200 hp. I bet it's pretty fast in damp conditions, though.

They sorta have (-ish). It's basically an S2 elise, but quite a bit lighter than the US elise. This one has an 850 KG kerb weight (half a tank of fuel, all the fluids and battery, etc all in it). The supercharger stuff is about 20 KG in total including fluids, but i've shaved a little over 10 KG off the engine (5 kg in the flywheel and another 5 kg in the balancer shafts), the front clam is 4 KG lighter, the new exhaust system saves approx 10 kg, the wheels are a bit lighter than stock, etc etc.
Current mods are:
- lightened flywheel/rotating assembly
- Supercharger with charge cooling
- Forged internals
- Standalone ECU
- LSD
- Unequal length exhaust setup (a bit like a subie)
- bigger injectors, fuel pump, yada yada
- Shorter rack
- Copper ceramic paddle clutch
- Racelogic TC with launch control
- alloy rads, catch tanks, etc
- various interior mods
- extensive rear clam mods so i can fit the quad round elise tail lights instead of the ugly plastic crap that it comes with
- many other small things
I should see around 280 at the crank, which will make it go quite nicely.
