Forgive me if this has been posted already, but Detroit start-up VL Automotive has !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , and will be producing it as a V8-powered sports car. Two engines will be available initially: a 6.2-litre LT1 direct-injection unit developing 450bhp and 449lb ft, and the 6.2-Litre supercharged LS9 engine from the ZR1. The latter boasts 638bhp at 6500rpm and 608lb ft of torque at 3800rpm.
The car is expected to start at around $200K, and the company plans to offer a V8 conversion to existing Karma owners for around half that amount.

That kind of reminds me of the Graham Hollywood, salvaged from Cord. Some visual similarity, but an element of panache and all drivetrain uniqueness gone.

Wow, quite a plan. Remove the complex, expensive drivetrain, stuff in the most ubiquitous V8 on the road and double the price.

A $200k car with a four speed automatic? Did I read that right?

yeah wtf, the corvette hasn't even had a 4spd auto since like 2005. Why would this have one?

200k?
Crack pipe much?
That is CL63 AMG or Rapide money. I'd rather have one of those.

Even if it's a repost, I didn't know the specs of the new V8 engines, so thank you sir.

Time will tell...but I'm gonna say probably not!

THE GRILLE WAS THE BEST PART!! WHAT???

Well it's a step in the right direction... and slightly in the wrong direction with the transmission. At least the beautiful body will be put to use, even if not optimally.

Hahahaha, that's probably true.
And sad.

Yeah this looks more Jaguar/Maserati than Fisker. The Karma has a mustachioed grille

Because the cheapest transmissions that can handle that power that they can get mass produced are probably 4-speed drag racing boxes.
Someone along the line thought "4 speed on the floor V8, yeah, that's the recipe for speed and muscle!" and is completely unaware that no one uses a 4-speed auto outside of the drag strip anymore.

Here is a list of all new cars I could find available with a 4 speed automatic transmission:
Toyota Corolla
Toyota Matrix
Dodge Avenger
Dodge Journey
Chrysler 200
GMC Sierra
Nissan Versa
Chevy Sonic
Chevy Spark

Yeah, esp. the fact that there's a 4 speed, CP all the way to the bank.

the sierra, and assuming the silverado also? Is that only with the v6?
![]() 10/23/2013 at 15:44 |

yeah, I think that's the base model.

I figured so, because the 6spd auto came standard on V8's in like 2008
