Given all the flak being thrown around recently, I figured I'd toss a pillow out of a helicopter.
What makes us who we are? We love cars. Fast cars, slow cars, interesting cars. Doesn't matter. I have an '02 Dakota and I love the hell out of it. I have a '61 Corvair that's a project for me. They're both special to me. 87caprice made us all love a red '95 Plymouth Voyager. Typical enthusiast car? No, but he showed us how to love a minivan.
The real joy here is being able to find the joy in most any car. That's why I like some of the older-new Top Gears better than the newer ones. Clarkson's lost the love. May and Hammond can still find the joy in whatever car they're given. And I respect that.
Remember Oliver.
It doesn't matter what you have, what you want, or how you drive. You just gotta show the love. And I don't mean Wert style.
Here are the cars I enjoy:
Post yours. And be proud of them.

Handles like dump truck, but has decent power, and rides very nice.
Makes a comfy DD.
Wife's DD isn't anything special either, but still a cheap, safe, fun little car.

A rare pic of my bike (current DD) and the wife's DD in the same shot.
My DD as soon as it's back together... again. This is back when it was pearl white with GT stripes (riding high because there was no engine, fuel tank, diff, etc). She's flared now and going into crystal white from House of Kolor with some accents in black.
Here is a pic of the S2000 I had to get rid of to make room for the S30. This is at an autocross the day after I bought it... I mean how else do you get comfortable with your new car?

You're absolutely right, it doesn't matter what we drive, it's that we love to drive. If you're passionate about your car, you're welcome here. Yes, even if your car is a Prius - just don't expect many people to agree with you!
And I think the preferred term is "opponaut".

A sales flop, unloved in the U.S. market, but my pride and joy.
I really do need to take some new pictures of her, though. This one's a year old, and the car's aged more gracefully than I have.

My DD, a 2002 Chevy Impala LS. Yes: it's a beige ("Sandmist Metallic", to be specific) FWD automatic domestic family sedan, and yes, I wish it were another colour - any colour! - and yes, she does have a rear spoiler that she does not really need, but I love her all the same, because she's mine .
I cherish what little Jalopness she has: the bulletproof 3800 Series II motor, one of the greatest internal combustion engines produced by man. I like to think of it as a domestic version of the famed BMW M30. While she's no Euro-spec saloon, she handles reasonably well for a domestic, with a stiffer chassis than the old Lumina upon which she's loosely based.
For the purpose to which she's put - as a DD covering 28km of highway each way - she's a beauty. Very stable and comfortable at speed, with enough power to pass and merge. Pretty good gas mileage for a V6. Front and rear discs, ABS, Traction Control keep this 11 year old car in today's game. Awesome seats that won't kill your back. I work for a car rental company, and after a day of sitting in Japanese cars with terrible seats, getting into my car is like slipping into a nice easy chair after a long day.
Do I wish it was, oh I dunno, an E24 M6? Sure! But she's not, and I love her all the same: the kind of car that if you take care of her, she'll take care of you.

You all know what I drive...
It's a FWD hatchback econobox built in the USA, with an RS badge it probably doesn't deserve, but it's mine and I love it. It's fun to drive, it's useable, it's comfortable, it looks good in black and with my intake it makes BOV noises that make me giggle.

Abominable project car (and DD to back left). There's a better pic of my DD with some of KusabiSensei's cars, but the search is refusing to find it. In short terms, the Benz is a car that should have died long ago, but boldly soldiers on, and fits my butt perfectly. That's all you can ask.
My toy. Its siblings are keeping me from cracking into the looney project, so work work work.

What drew me to oppo was the fact that nobody would want to hump your leg if you had one or more expensive cars. Being a nice guy, being helpful, and willing to share your car knowledge gets you respect in those parts.
Oh, I think you all know my ride, but anyway:

Well said.
One thing I have learned since joining Jalopnik as a commenter is that you don't have to love the same vehicles that others do, but if you try, you can usually see why they love their vehicle.
Prime example: My project car
A 1988 Thunderbird Sport. It's got the all-powerful 302 with 155 rampaging horsepower, a 5 speed swapped in by the previous owner (because I'm betting the auto trans crapped out after sitting in a field for years), 14in rims with old truck tires, and all the squeaks and broken plastic you'd expect in a 25 year old Ford.
However, it is a Fox Body, that means it's upgradable with all the parts you could stick on a Mustang (including Mustang sourced parts from the junkyard), it has less than 90k miles and zero rust (thanks to the aforementioned sitting in a field), and once it gets shined up, it'll be far prettier than any Mustang that I could have afforded.
My daily driver is a slightly riced out '02 Protege5. The aftermarket springs are sagging, the altezza taillights are ugly, the 18in rims were cracked (too low of profile for the roads in my town), but it can carry nearly as much as a small truck and is a lot of fun to drive. (And fun to take stupid pictures with too.)

I pretty much enjoy all cars. I can't sit down in a car without opening everything I can find, pushing all the buttons, etc. I prefer to keep my cars long term, maintain and extend if it's reasonable to. Here's my current stable:
73 Buick LeSabre before in-progress bodywork - grandparents bought this new
2005 VW Passat Wagon (2.0T 6spd) wife's DD (loaded up for summer vacation as shown - usually not carrying the roof box)
1954 MG TF - mother purchased in 1968, in family somehow ever since
2013 Chevy Volt - mostly gas-free daily driver
