Kinja'd!!!

Took my Cub Scout den to the local fire station this evening to learn about fire safety. The firefighters couldn't have been nicer to the boys. Showed them all the gear, checked out the truck and gave them safety tips. The guys were really good with the kids. Kind of restores a bit of faith in people. (Pic marginally related)

If you were anywhere near Cincinnati, I would highly recommend the Fire Museum.

As a former volunteer fireman, I can tell you that we lived for positive engagement with the community outside of emergency response. Parades, pancake breakfasts, spaghetti dinners, haunted houses, open houses, and fire prevention school visits. This kind of engagement with the community is great for all parties involved.

Thanks for volunteering! Glad to hear that this kind of stuff isn't a burden. The guys went so far to tell the scouts that if they ever see a truck in the station they are welcome to come in and visit. Very cool.
