I have had 2 E36s over the past 4 years and even though this isn't true, it's still kinda funny

The E36, where despite its perfectly comfortable interior getting up to highway speed may involve man-touching. Or just accidentally punching your passenger in the thigh. I've been there.
The manual in my E34 525i was just like this too.

Did both have the M3 shifters? It's a lot less true with those, but I still feel it.

I've had stock M3 shifter on my M3 and them a Z3 M shifter on it with a stock knob, and then Z3 M shifter with a ZHP knob and also Z3 M shifter with a Steve Jaffster knob
on the other M3, I have a UUC short shifter with a stock knob that I switch out with my Jaffster knob when I do track events.. I've tried that shifter with a ZHP knob and it's assininely worthless in terms of effort and feel

Yeah, I tend to flat hand the shifter in those situations. And yes, I have large hands, or as one of my old bosses described them, "Big ol' man hands."

Since we're already talking about it... which is your favorite? Should I bother changing out my stock M3 shifter?
![]() 10/22/2013 at 00:39 |

I don't have a favorite.
yes, replace it

But... with what? I mean, it's one of those real far off dream goals, but... if we're pretending that I'll ever make it to a track. Which one?
