We all like Camrys because they are cheap, and last forever and boring. One day, we hope to buy a Camry so we can store our curry in the trunk and make our arranged wife happy, because as we know she is not happy about this marriage and neither are you. Hopefully the kids won't be too ugly, but don't have high hopes. Oh god she is going to get fat isn't she.

The Camry is an awesome car, and if you want some added luxury and prestige, they have the Lexus ES350/330/300/250!

Fortunately my dad doesn't like the boring Toyota cars and took an interest in Ford's boring cars. Ford Escort, Windstar, Econoline Van. The only non-Ford car we own is my Chevy Cobalt. Next car is going to be an S2000, and lemme tell ya something, my sister likes my Cobalt more than her Escort and even better she likes the S2000 as well. mmmmmyeabuddy
The rest of my family is boring as hell, except for my rich uncle. He drives an S550 and a Chevy Silverado, and gives his eldest daughter a GLK. I'm just wondering what his son wants...it'll be expensive as hell when he's old enough to drive.

Over in India, no one knows anything. . . cause they can't read. This statement isn't racist as it comes from an Indian.

Yup.

Actually, they currently only have the ES350/ES300h.
Both of which are essentially an Avalon in nicer clothes. And also incredibly boring to drive.

I know.

I wouldn't wish the ES on anyone. Not because its FWD, but because its FUCKING BORING.
The A6, with its FWD heritage, has more spunk to it.

There's a little known joke for Indian weddings "Will the owner of a Camry..."
And what do they drive when at least one person in their family is a doctor? Mercedes Benz.

As a Far Eastern Asian male I can say I'm lucky I don't have parents who buy civics or corollas and stuff plenty of plush toys to disguise the little dings from trying to park at an Asian strip mall.
No, we have an Odyssey and a CRV and the dings are there, reminding you how awful it is to park at Asian strip malls.

Sir, very true.
Although you could throw in the occasional Honda Civic or Accord and Nissan Maxima and Altima into the crowd.
I should know, I'm Indian.
(Although, as you probably have judged from my various comments, I am a diehard Volvo guy (have grown up with them) and drive a C30).

I like to imagine that once Indians graduate from Toyota they go directly to Mercedes Benz. My aunt drives a MB and so does my other uncle. My cousins(not related to the aunt or uncle) both have Toyotas.
My dad doesn't like Toyota either, but I think that is unfair, cause Toyota can make great cars. I think I am the one keeping him from buying a Camry. . . with my insanity and stuff.

Funny thing is that my uncle never owned any import! My grandfather's most notable purchase back when he was not a grandfather (the 1980s) was a great condition impala on the cheap from a buddy who couldn't hold on to the car anymore. Always tells me the car was so big it could hold all 5 of his kids in the back seat. They were all skinny as hell back then hahaha
There's also pics of my Dad standing with my Uncle's Trans Am...
I assume you have a plethora of old pics of your parents before they were ever married...I have so many it's unbelievable. I don't even take pictures of myself or my parents or my sister or family or anything. I guess my kids won't ever get to see what my life was like...oh well, heh

Even Toyota doesn't make them like they used to :(
The very first generation was the ES250 from 1990-91, a stopgap until they could make the ES300 in 92 and also to serve as a second model that Lexus dealers were clamoring for (because you couldn't just release a brand with only one model). Currently I own a 96 ES300, and my previous car was a 91 ES250.
They do currently sell a 4-cylinder ES250 in China that they should sell over here (like our ES350 but with the Camry's 4-banger). 4-cylinder luxury cars are awesome.

Stop it. The ES is awesome. Well, at least the first two generations were!
I wouldn't wish an A6 on anyone. Not because it's FWD, but because it is an UNRELIABLE PIECE OF SHIT. Frequent expensive problems all around.
![]() 10/21/2013 at 12:52 |
|
I'd go pull up the average problems per 1000 cars chart now, but that would make you look bad.
I'm not against FWD in any shape, so that isn't an issue. The issue is the car itself is a goddamn bore to drive with very little redeeming features, the new one is no better.
The A6 is not a unreliable piece of shit. Get your head out of your ass and stop thinking that everything coming out of Germany is expensive to repair and always needs repairing, just the same way that not everything coming out of Japan is trouble free and cheap to run.

I'm fairly certain the ES300h has an Atkinson-cycle 4-banger paired with the electric motors.
That first gen ES was a great car. You could get a 5-speed manual even! The styling is still good looking as well. Some of the later models are highly questionable with regards to looks.

My dad used to own a lincoln towncar. That thing broke down all the time, and it was ugly, and it was slow, BUT it was so comfortable and it would carry everyone in the car. Plus it had an electronic dash. My family never owned a sports car, I am the first person to do so.
