So, about that !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , I went and looked at it, and holy shit, it is as good as it looks. Excellent condition, no rust, no leaks, runs and drives like it only has 40k miles. And apparently before this owner it was owned by a service tech at the dealership that commuted to work every day. So mileage be damned, this is a good car. I think I'm pulling the trigger.

I'll update again if and when I acquire it.

That's great that it's as good as you thought it was. I'm still concerned with that mileage and the recently replaces parts, but I hope it lasts as long as you want it to. Keep us updated!

I bought a 1998 jetta formerly owned by a VW tech that had 200k miles on almost exactly when I bought it. I put on some RSK coils, some new wheels and tires, and I just did a brake job on the front and an oil change. A car formlerly owned by a tech is a great car to own if you see evidence of such ownership. Despite being 200k miles on, the half shafts on the front were newer as were the rear suspension mounts and bushings. The exhaust seemed to be next on the list as the ignition system and spark plugs and wires were only a couple thousand miles old from the second owner (the one I bought it from). I've got about 2200$ into it including the car purchase and it's been a great little ride (I rave on about it often on here).
Definitely consider purchasing that if the car is as good as it looks. They are easy to work on when you know what has and hasn't been done. Yes, things will break but it is easy to troubleshoot when it's clean and well maintained.
