Hey remember this car?!
Its about to be auctioned off at an upcoming RKM auction taking place in Charlotte, NC from October 31st-November 3rd. I remember researching this car and finding !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! saying that it had been found in a NC dealership after being M.I.A. for a few years. According to that 2008 article, the C1000 had been sold at a Barrett-Jackson auction for $243,000 and then was listed on eBay for $350k a month later. RKM estimates that the car will sell for $1-1.3 million.

Some history on the Lotec C1000 from the RKM write up:
The C1000 was thought up by a businessman from the UAE in 1990 who wanted to own the fastest street-legal car in the world. After 5 years and $3.5 million, the result was an all carbon fiber body (hence the "C") and a 5.6L Mercedes-Benz V8 with twin Garrett turbochargers that generated 1000 horsepower (hence the "1000"). The car tipped the scales at only 2381lbs, allowing it to sprint from 0-60 in 3.2 seconds and tops out at a claimed 268 mph. The interior is a mix of red leather and carbon fiber, and had adjustable pedals and steering column.
So what do you think? Is this one off worth $1 million when it could have been had 5 years ago for $350,000?

I'd rather splash a million on this than in a Veyron.

This thing is awesome. Sorta sucks (for the buyer) that it's so expensive compared to a few years ago, but it's cooler than a Veyron at the same price (and probably more serviceable)

It'll likely go for 500k$ to 750k$, it's rare but I don't think it's been able to its value even after two decades. On the plus side, that engine is supposedly a detuned Group C Mercedes engine, so you can get a taste of how absurd those monsters were.
