Yup, Alfa Romeo is returning to the US soon, hoping that everyone who remembered how fast old Alfas would rust, are either dead or with Alzheimer.
The new Alfa Romeo 4C has everything to turn over that bad reputation. Also, as the American market is becoming more compact-friendly ( !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ), I wonder if it is time for other European brands to make another go across the Atlantic.
I mean, I am sure that even Batman would like to have a go at this French beautie, because you don't want to fight crime without a chick-magnet car.
So, this question is for all of you freedom-lover, big-gulp drinkers, hand-egg fans: What brands would you like to see in the States, and actually have a go at it?

I've really been looking at the Messerschmitts lately. I don't know how.

They've been teasing us with Alfas return for what, a decade? I'll believe it when I see the cars on the road.

Peugeots ant Citroëns are really fighting recently for having the weirdest cars on the market.
I am not seeing at all a Peugeot 2008 in the US. It is just... too french.

I think the 508 RXH could do well in the states. a 200hp (163+37) Diesel Hybrid 4wd Crossover/Wagon that looks quite cool and has good space. Not as good as the XC70, but not as expensive either.

Lancia (Stratos)
Detomaso (Pantera)

You have Lancias there. There is the... ergh... Chrysler Delta... sorry for that.

I don't think this is such a good car, for many reasons.
The first would be that the all-electric range is ridiculous (2.5 miles).
Second, it's not really 4WD in the way that each axle is driven independently by a separate power unit ( through the road hybrid). The rear axle being powered by the electric motor, once the battery runs out the car becomes FWD again. In addition, the gearbox is an old single-clutch automated setup.
Third, its official fuel economy of 57mpg is ridiculous, the real-world FE is actually around 35-36mpg, which isn't fantastic especially with the car's performance (8.8s 0-60)
Last but not least, it's in no way cheap. It goes for the same kind of money as a 320d wagon with a few options, which will have way better performance, and better real-world fuel economy.

Haha this hits the nail right on the head. I recall seeing timelines 5 years ago, which were predicting that within 2 years, Alfa would be back on US soil with a RWD big sedan powered by Petrol TTV6's, V8's and V10's, as well as diesel V6's and V8's.
A roadster was on the way, as well as a 3-series RWD figther bla bla bla we swear this is true bla bla bla 2 years blah italian BMW blah.
I'm still dying for this to happen, but now I take those news with a BIG grain of salt.

No, it's not a very good car, I'd rather buy a XC70 or a Outback myself. But it's got better fuel economy than those two, tests here have gotten 40-45 MPG which isn't bad for this type of vehicle. It also looks different than anything else, and the interior isn't bad at all.
A 3-series X-drive with the same equipment would be more expensive. It might get better fuel economy and be more sporty to drive, but it would lack space compared to the 508.
It's only a decent car, but some Americans might like it.

I'm a bit ambivalent about this. Not a fan of the RXH at all, the standard 508 wagon with either a normal gasoline or diesel engine is much better. But Americans and their... American taste don't like wagons, so that wouldn't work either. They could offer it as a sedan though.

Americans already get Lancias. There's the Lancia 300 Thema
The Lancia 200 Flavia
And the Lancia Voyager. Yes Voyager.
Excuse me for a second while I wipe the puke from my chin.

I can't get off their mailing list. Every year, a blank page describing the new models. I know it's them. Messershmitt sales people are very persistent.

Tatra. OK, they were never really here, but still. And Citroen. I realize the era of retro-styling may be ending, but I can't believe those guys never did a "new" DS.
