If you bought a car like this (peeling clear coat) to drive and you wanted it to look betteron a budget what would you do.
wrap/paint/replace panels/buff out?
If it was worth my time, i think id wrap it silver or white. Does anyone know how long a process such as this would take?

Personally, I feel like you should go to a professional if you want to get it all looking good (also get that professional to fix any defects like dents and stuff, then get them to wrap it.) however, if this is a project car that you really don't care if it looks that great, then i'd do it myself. Great learning experience.

I think on an old messed up paint of coat you'd have a hard time getting a wrap to look even decent (paint chips, rust, scratches, dents, etc) Time wise probably not terrible, 5 hours? It would really depend how much time you wanted to spend making every single bit look perfect, scraping all the bubbles out.
Personally I would go PlastiDip. Check DipYourCar. Lots of colors, they sell kits, and it peels off whenever. Yes it actully peels off (had it on my old rims)

Plastidip! Cheap, reversible, tons of color options. If its not intended to be a restoration then who cares, it'll look cool!

Is there some sort of shiny, paint like PlastiDip?

You don't need to fix the paintwork. Just get the vanity plate 'Patina'...

I agree. They have some really cool colors and you can even mix your own. (I'd love to do my Focus in a blaze blue.)

Buff it first and see how far that goes. My e30 was completely matte from old oxidized paint and no clear coat. A good buff brought some shine back. Then a wash and coat of wax and it looks a million times better.

Just grind it down for some real patina.

I've been messing around with plasti-dip the last couple of weeks, just doing small components here and there. It's so easy to spray on, if you don't want to have to pay for someone to get it done you can rattle can yourself a pretty decent job.
Plus, you can just peel it off and put a new colour on whenever you feel like it. Will totally mess with your family when you pull up in a new shade.
