Any idea how Kinja decides what to put there?

I would presume some kind of view/comment author/promoter ratio algorithm. Bet Google know's.

Nope. I'm used to judging posts by their lead images so it doesn't really work for me.

I follow Giz, I09, and Kotaku, and they have had this format for a while. No, I don't click on the "Top Stpries". I scroll and click on what I personally find interesting.

Some of the top stories are are kinda old, but I think these are what's trending. "Supercar basics" for example has gone viral (for lack of a better word). Google it, and you'll see it's spreading across several different websites.

I will say I didn't click those from there, just knew since I read them already. I did click through them after you asked and it is very skewed numbers on what I thought put them their. Stories with 3,000 view 10 comments higher then stories with 30,000 views

ooh that makes way more sense, they let the internets do the hard work.

A shitty post with, like, a bitching picture is the only thing I will click on.

Gawker Media seems like a heavyweight in the world of internets...

i.e. what we publish to Oppo is pretty much on par with what major media outlets publish on the web. Take a gander at this:

Kinja'd!!!

Kinja'd!!!

I when I googled "hollywood stuntz" a little while ago, my Oppo post trumped all other news articles.

Kinja'd!!!

Then after googling "justice for jay meezee", my Oppo post appears above the actual GoFundMe page. This is madness. Hardigree told us back in February that we have "powers" previously undreamed of... he wasn't kidding.

I hate that sometimes. I will try to search something that someone ask on here or post a picture of and of course, oppo is the first link... could be that whole personalized search result thing from our creepy stalker.

It gets to me too sometimes. It's like everything we post here is like posting on facebook sans privacy settings.

Yeah I wonder how much of what I see on Google searches I catered just to me. I'd rather see what search results looked like back when everyone saw the same thing.

I shut that off today well the personal ad's from that company that pop's them up on just about every page you visit.
An add popped up on FB from a company that really pissed me off this week and I was like oh hell no I do not want to even see their name and instead of clicking the hide button I hit the blue sideways triangle and it let me shut off or what ever it is I haven't seen another one on any page since then. If I remember right that is a company providers uses and basically forces add's on every page.

I think it was these guys http://assets.invitemedia.com/opt-out.html guess google bought them. click and op out for now more add's

Negative. I don't even look at them on Oppo. I'd rather have larger images.
