My mom has driven an Explorer for all 22 years of their existence (my dad ordered one before they were in showrooms) and has managed to keep the shiny side up. Good thing, 'cause that wreck doesn't look pleasant.

Good tires keeps the exploders shiny side up. Also proper tire maintenance is what does it too. Most of those rolls were caused by underinflation exposing a flaw in the tires design. It was another case of people neglecting to treat their car as something that could kill them and then blaming the people who make it for it being dangerous.
Good for your parents keeping one on the road for so long. I was so close to getting a sport with the manual.

Well our first one died a tragic death when my mom hit a person who was commuting suicide. That one was my favorite. Manual transmission, 4x4, 4.0L V6 (all of ours have had that engine). Next was a purplish '95, then a black '98, and now she still has her blue '03.
