It's not really political, it only mentions political parties to state they both had the same thoughts.

Sorry we're too busy pretending we're not a couple paychecks away from our own financial ruin. 'Cus we work hard ya' know. That's what counts, work hard and everything will be good. You want to be a hard worker. Look at the new Corvette Stingray, just one more promotion if you keep working hard and the finance won't be too bad. Could probably put it on the mortgage...

On the list of things not preventing me from doing anything in my own life: this.

Strictly speaking if you make $50k a year or more you're in the top 1% of the Earth...can't wait for the other 6.93 billion people to hate you just for having more than them, no matter how hard you worked for it right? Le sigh. There are a lot of people with more than me...and I couldn't care less. And that's as political as I'm getting on here. Night everyone, I hope you enjoy the relative safety, food, and shelter that a majority of the planet would love to experience. Be thankful, better yourselves everyday, and love who you are instead of hating who you aren't.

I don't understand how anyone can see something like this and not feel like there's something seriously broken with the distribution of wealth, and how we're still having debates about pulling what little resources our poorest citizens still have because " THOSE POORS ARE LIVING THE GOOD LIFE ON EBT ". How taxing the hyper wealthy, to at least an equal rate to that of the average middle class American, is something that needs to be debated, and not just by the people who have run off with most of the country's money.
Why do middle class Americans vehemently defend that small percentage of people's wealth? I can't wrap my head around it.

I was going to write a long post, but it probably wouldn't change your opinion.
While I dont think many people would hold success against you for hard work. There are systematic problems to look at.
From the video—
80% of people have 7% of the wealth in the US. (Productivity is through the roof, people are working harder than longer than ever, to maintain their current position while the top tier of society, wealth expands every year by billions.)
"The average worker needs to work more than a month to earn what the CEO makes in one hour"
—-
Food and shelter is all good, but there are lots of people in the US that are food insecure, ignoring the billions in poverty in the rest of the world.
Food and shelter is great, until you cant pay your rent because your job got outsourced/automated and safety nets are taken away because "you didn't work hard enough". There are more people out of work than there are jobs to take them, lets not even pretend all these available jobs are long term or sustainable.

Another side note,
The top 1% of the world (not US) owns 40% of the wealth
the top 10% (included) has 86%
The bottom 50% of the worlds population owns just 1% of the worlds wealth.
Now we shouldnt envy other people for what they have. When we're struggling to survive in modern society, whilst working 60 or more hours a week. You have to wonder what's left for the rest of us (the bottom 50%)... The answer is: another 60 hour week next to keep the lights on at your one bedroom apartment.
People have worked hard and earned significant amounts of money, for their own security and that is admirable. We should be looking both up and down, to see why the people at the top have so much, and only ever get more while the people at the middle and the bottom are forever squeezed even when productivity in their roles is at an all time high.
If you look at is as being part of the 1% on your $50k, and life is not easy, you have a lot of demands and responsibilities. Think about how life is for the people in the bottom 50%, in urban environments going where the work and opportunity is. It's not pleasant. Meanwhile, the captains of industry and banking increase their wealth year on year.
In the UK, the government privatized our postal service, in a deal organized by Goldman Sachs. The first day (apparently minutes) on the market, the stock rose 38%. Before going public, 70% of these stocks were allocated to big investment firms. People with power had their money in it for a day, or even maybe a few hours and cleared millions in profit. Their eligibility for making millions of pounds in a couple hours? They were already millionaires.

I was talking more about not letting it enrage him. The whole "let's break down their gates, drag them out of their houses, and lynch them in front of their families" is not a healthy reaction...for anyone. And it doesn't solve anything. You just end up becoming what you hate.

I agree, apologies for missing the point of your post, but you can be angry without being violent. We must maintain the moral high ground. We must not also forget the violent struggles people undertook to ensure civil rights for all members of society not just white males. I abhor violence but at the same time the US has done some things right, such as not giving the government the monopoly on violence. Although in modern times, what you can do with your AR15 vs a Predator Drone, i'm not so sure.
