These tires mark the first objects to which I've ever applied water-transfer decals in my life. I don't think I did too poorly. Also, I'm having trouble fitting the front tires on their hubs. The rubber is SUPER soft and deforms too much to seat on the rim. Any advice?

Are these real size or model size?

They are part of a 1:12 scale model.
My kingdom for a full-scale FW14B, though.

Good thing those aren't Pirelli's...

In what way are the tires not fitting? From your wording, I'm guessing that the lip on the tire isn't fitting into the groove in the rim, is that the case?

Yeah, kind of. When I push the hub into the wheel, it also of course pushes in the front face of the tire. I can seat the back bead just fine because the hub doesn't extend beyond the tire and I can stretch it and work it in. But at the front, the bead is pushed toward the inside, so I can't pull it out to set it on the rim. Here's a crude illustration to almost help explain:

Ha, they may as well be. In my blind tire-fitting rage, I opened a small tear on the inside bead of one of the front tires.
Maybe I can just display this as part of a pit maintenance scene in a state of disassembly. Gotta think ahead.

Or delaminate it and have it look like a blow out on the track, that would look awesome!

That's not a bad idea. If my modeling skills don't improve, I can just write off the quality and make it look like it crashed.

Crashed F1 diorama would be so sweet!

That's what I was thinking, got it.
Are you able to pull the sidewall around the hub so the hub is completely inside the tire? You may be able to get the lip to fall into the hub that way, with the lip coming in first before the sidewall it should work.

I tried that last night, although I wasn't very careful about it. I opened a small tear on the sidewall of one of the front tires.
I could give it the old college try again, but I don't know what I could use to wedge in there and pop the sidewall out.

Disregard my previous reply, I've finally gotten the tires on!
Turns out that upon closer inspection, there is a taller bead on one side of the tire than the other. Those correspond to wider and narrower lips on either respective side of the hub. All it took was some careful doing with a reversed x-acto flat blade and the tires were fitted.

You did a good job with those decals. I do lots of nerdy scale modelling as my main hobby (Warhammer stuff, don't judge!) and I find that for decals using Micro Sol and Micro Set makes everything work so much nicer.
I know you're done, and did a great job, but if you aren't using that stuff you need to start ASAP. It'll change your life.

Thanks. If I don't seal these decals, is there any chance they could come off? These tires are like children to me now.
Also, small world (kind of). To brush up on decal setting, I watched a video on YouTube in which a guy was using Micro Sol and the like to apply Warhammer decals.
Maybe it was you!

They should be fine, but since they are on rubber, which is flexible, they're probably more susceptible to flaking with handling. If I were you, I'd at least give them a quick, light spray with some Testor's Dullcote. Since it's pretty fair to assume this model is for display purposes, it should keep everything safe, considering that I use it on all my models that I tabletop game with, and those mofos get handled like crazy and the paint/decals hold up great.
Dullcote is awesome. I'm pretty sure if I sprayed myself down with it, I'd be bulletproof.

Sorry if this offends you as a modeler, but I have a can of Prismacolor matte workable fixative that I use for setting charcoal drawings, etc. If I were to be a cheapskate, do you think this would do in a pinch?

Probably, yes, but it's not quite the same thing. It'll put a layer of protection over it, but it probably won't be as durable as Dullcote.
It if turns out to be, though, post it on all the Warhammer forums. They'll turn you into a new god, like that guy who first started to prime his models with gesso.

Very nice! I've had a similar issue with some components on our FSAE car, they fit one way but turned around don't fit at all.
Looking forward to the rest of your build.

Ooh, the appeal of acclaim is too strong to resist. I'll give them a spritzing, then.
