I can't believe the ignorance of the FP with regard to Pagani

Here is a Zonda R for you.

I find it funny that people think that laying carbon fiber so that the weave lines up on all the body panels is just the same as not painting it.

It isn't like Pagani is pulling what Nissan did for the GT-R with the track pack or what ever, where they charged more for taking out the interior bits and sound deadening. But Oh well. I guess this is why I don't go on there that much anymore, and it doesn't matter anyways because I am still grayed out and it seems like I will never be in the black again. Meh. . .

Did I mention I love the Zonda? If I were to ever be able to afford an exotic, I do believe a Zonda would be the only one I would consider.

I think of all of the Paganis, that the Zonda will always be the ultimate one to own. There may be faster, but none made as big of an impact IMO. I will own one some day. And I will buy it instead of an F50.

Agreed. I fell in love with the Zonda when I first saw the TG review of it back in 2000 or 2001. I couldn't believe that a car could look so alien yet be so beautiful. Let alone that the AMG powerplant could sound that glorious. I will forever be longing for a Zonda. I really wouldn't care which Zonda I could get my hands on, but that really doesn't matter because Pagani will update any Zonda to current specs for a sum of cash. . .

Oh, so that magical material just got less magical. Thanks, I'll go ruin someone else day now too.

I hope by time I hit the lottery (because otherwise I'll never make enough) they'll release an anniversary edition and I can buy it. Although, like you said any Zonda variant is stunningly beautiful and can be matched to newer models as far as inward specs go.

I also want a Koenigsegg CCX. But mainly because it uses the same 4.6L motor that's in my Cobra lol.

Some people just don't get the car. They don't get the idea of the craftsmanship and all the design details and stuff that's behind it.

I really don't like the looks of the Zonda or the Huayra, I really can't dig any of them. But that doesn't mean I don't respect Pagani and all that's behind it. Each part being machined and polished. Suspension parts that no one besides a mechanic will see are polished, anodized and branded. It's just beautiful in its essence, but still, I don't like their looks. But I respect it all a lot.

Also, something that annoys me are these guys who just think of it as a machine to drag race and to lap at the Nurburgring. It's like when Gustav of GTBOARD raced the Veyron SS against the Agera R. Forums all over, even here on Jalopnik people go like "Yeah, now race it against the GTR Alpha 12 and see both million dollar cars eat dust", GODFREAKINGDAMMIT.

People fail to realize the little details that make cars like this have inflated MSRPs.

No one buys a Zonda or Agera to go fast and beat people. Not really.

Its a statement. A pretty damn expensive, "Yea, I could own your ass in a literal sense" statement. I don't play on that level so I can't even hope to understand what buying a car like that even entails.

Personally, I think the attention to detail with the carbon fiber weave is incredible. Its the little things that remind you how passionate these guys can be and how anal retentive they get with the little details that you or I might never notice. But they notice, and they are what give these cars and these companies a lot of their commercial appeal.

You're buying the car as much as you're buying into that persons vision and dedication.

Exactly, to each their own with respect to aesthetics, but when it comes to the engineering and craftsmanship that goes into producing these monstrously expensive vehicles the attention to minute details is what the kicker is. Sure you can shove giant turbos on a GT-R and feed it a steady diet of E85 and make silly power all day long, but it will never be able to do what an Agera R can do at high speed.

I really don't see the point of the Veyron, the Agera R you can at least hot lap it at a track day and not feel bad but it is lumped in there with the Veyron as the maintenance costs have to be similar. I wonder if the maintenance requirements have been released for the Agera yet.

The Zonda and the Huyayayayayayayayrearghhhhhhhh are extremely capable pieces of sculpture. The Zonda R is more of a capable track machine than it is a grand tourer but I would still love to travel across Europe in one. But again you are correct in the fact that the average buyer of these machines are mostly rich playboys who just want to show off how much money they have.

When you purchase a Zonda, you are purchasing a mobile sculpture. It is a testament to what attention to detail gets you.

I don't even know what even considering a Zonda would be like let alone having enough capital to seriously think about owning one.

I do wonder how inflated the MSRP really is with the cars that Pagani produces. I mean really his company is set up around R&D of composites. I wonder how much is offset by that aspect of their business. Horatio Pagani is one of the leaders in composite technology, or he was very recently, so there has to be a great deal of proprietary methods and technology that he could use to offset the costs of building a limited production vehicle.

You gotta think that a large amount of the revenue from say, a Zonda or now Huayra is more than likely going right back into their composite research.

Pagani does for composites what Ferrari does for racing. Ferrari cares not for YOU, they just need your money to fund their shenanigans. But in a different way, Horatio seems to have unparalleled passion in delivering a near flawless (to him it might as well be flawless) product.

Yes, the fact Ferrari doesn't give a shit about your business and refuse to sell you a car unless you buy a used one first. But Pagani seems more than happy to oblige your requests and will accommodate the customer and tailor make the vehicle. All of the interviews I have seen with Horatio show him as a happy and passionate man that creates groundbreaking designs with amazing tech to back up his design.

As outlandish as the Zonda and the Huyara are they seem to make Pagani look like a more accessible auto maker than the staple Italian manufacturers.

Pagani is what Lamborghini has started to stray away from; sheer lunacy.

Pagani and Lamborghini have always been far more accessible and 'relatable' compared to Ferrari who has always been...well...interesting.

I say this as having a good friend who runs a Ferrari dealership but the entire culture is not one that says "Happy" "Open" or "Welcoming" in any way you look at it.

True, the world of supercars is not one that is open to most, but it is on display more so than any other sector in the auto industry.

The whole culture that surrounds the supercar industry is kind of what turns me off from them. I'd much rather have a fully built KPGC-110 GT-R with a RB26 in it than any Ferrari out there. But that isn't the point of this thread or conversation.

It just seems silly that there is such an air of superiority that surrounds the supercar industry, Ferrari especially, that is kind of stupid. Just build the best car you can and don't cheat the tests to boost the buff book stats.

Really all the cars in that echelon are just status symbols and not much more than that.

I see the veyron and all these cars like expensive watches. There are some watches that cost as much as £300,000, they are mechanic and not as precise as the G-Shock your cousin had. Why bother? Yes, if it sank with the Titanic it could still be alive if someone found it. But do you really care? Would you really dive with a watch that costs more than what billions of people won't earn in their lifetimes?Of course not. You pay that much not for a watch that can't do everything (it can probably just work as a simple chronograph and tell you what time it is), but it can do one thing in a manner no other can deliver. It's a piece of art, something to be remembered forever as something special not because your cousin ran over it with his bike and it didn't even scratch, or because you sync'd it with Windows XP's NTP and it was still sync'd a month later.

It'll be remembered because it is unique, it's special, it's something that may not even be seen by other people because it's tucked in your sleeve most of the day anyway. But it's still completely unique for that extra rich person who can admire it.

Yes, I just compared the GT-R to a G-Shock.
